Contest: "Can you dig it?"
Deadline: May 4 -- extended!

The Details

Several of our beloved Losties are together again on the Island, yay! But, oh no! They're stuck in the 1970's, unable to see any of LVI's awesome vids.

So we thought we'd help them out and send them some vids they can enjoy until (or if...

) they get back to present day. But to do that, we have to conform to a few rules.

The only music allowed is music from the 1970's. For some ideas of what songs that would be, have a look here:

Many songs that were done in the 70's have been covered in later years. However, we're asking you not to use the current covers but the original songs from the 70's.

And so not to draw any suspicion to the gang (can't have the Dharma people catch them watching 2009-style vids, now can we?

), then we're asking you to make your vids in 1970's style as well. That means trippy, psychedelic and abstract is the name of the game!

We're giving you latitude to express "trippy, psychedelic and abstract" however you choose to interpret it. Think of things like the Dharma films and the brainwashing scene with Karl from 3x09 "Not In Portland." Also, let your music be your guide. Fit the style of your vid to the style of your music and let your imagination run wild!

It's time to send some far out vids to our favorite "trapped in the 70's" Losties, man, can you dig it?

The Rules

Specific Contest Rules:

• -Make a trippy, psychelic, abstract 70's-style vid to a song from the 1970's (no cover songs recorded in later decades, please. Just the original song that was released somewhere in the 1970's.

• -Running time should be no longer than 5 minutes. We suggest the 3 - 5 minute range.
• -The more creative, the better. Don't be afraid to take risks.
• -When entering your video on the Submit page, you MUST enter "April 2009 contest submission" exactly in your vid's description.

General Contest Rules:

* - Contest submissions should be entered through the Submit page
* - All regular submissions Rules apply.
* - Only one entry per vidder
* - Videos already submitted and RELEVANT can be submitted again, but we would rather see something fresh. (Please contact a CM if you wish to enter a previously-submitted video)
* - Please do not use Megaupload, Rapidshare or Yousendit as your only link to host your files.
* - Keep in mind that however you choose to host your video, it must be available for viewing at least until the end of the contest. If we can not access your video at the time of judgment it will not be considered.
* - Have fun!

I am LOVING this contest idea. I was looking at the suggested songs list and each one makes me tickled pink to think of it as a lost video!
