How in the world do you fade out a single color? It seems like it would be simple, but for some reason everything I've tried hasn't worked.
Help please? _________________ "What, you smell blood on the wind?"

do you have WMM??
if there is a sertain color you would like to use, say pink for example...
just get a pink picture (you can make one on paint or photoshop or get one from the internet.)
then you drag it into your timeline, and click and drag it to merge with the clip (eather if you want the clip to fade from pink, or fade out to pink). that is the easiest way on WMM. they do have a video effect where it fades in/and or/ out to black or white for you. but thats only black and white. the way I explained is really the easiest. but that is for windows movie maker. i dont know about other movie makers... _________________

Yeah, I'm using Sony Vegas 7. And I'm not sure if I was clear when I said 'fading out a color', but I just want to get rid of that color while the clip plays (I'm trying to make the green background black). _________________ "What, you smell blood on the wind?"

I'm not sure about removing just one color over a large part of the frame (I don't think my Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 can just take out a single color and leave the rest... Of course I've never tried! ).
If I was going to try making the background black and white with the person in the scene in color, I'd probably use two copies of the clip, the original one, then one in black and white on the timeline beneath it. Then I would use the cookie cutter to cut out the person in the color clip and that should give you that sort of effect. The full version of Vegas lets you do a much more precise mask with the pan/crop tool than what the cookie cutter can do, so you ought to be able to get a nice result.
IF that's what you're going for, of course! If you want all colors in the background and on the person except for green... I'm not really sure how to accomplish that, sorry! For masking using the pan/crop tool, I'm sure we still have a tutorial around for that, so I'll be glad to look for it if you need it! |

If you could find that, it'd be great, thanks! _________________ "What, you smell blood on the wind?"

Bummer, the tutorial has been removed! I'll email her and see if she still has it somewhere and can put it up again! It was a really great tut on how to use the pan/crop mask! I'll let you know what I find out! |

Hey, that's not quite it, I knew how to do that, I'm trying to do the opposite I guess. Instead of just the red, everything else but the red.
But don't worry about it unless you want to, I decided to go with a different effect anyways.
Thanks for helping! _________________ "What, you smell blood on the wind?"

That works both ways. The video only demonstrates removing all but one color. If you look at the tutorial it explains both ways. |
