I downloaded a lost episode (the cost of living) and I was attempting to open it in vegas. It told me there was a problem with the codec, which I suspected anyway so I opened the matrix thingie to switch it over, when I did that, it wouldn't allow me to, saying that the file might be read only.
The file type is .abc. I didn't realize this when downloading. Anybody know how to fix this or convert?
Thanks.
PS - It plays in WMP fine. |

If I'm not mistaken, I believe you can just change the file extension to .avi and then it'll work fine. Go the folder where the file is at, then use Tools - Folder options - View, then uncheck the box next to "hide file extensions for known file types." That will let you get to the extensions. Then just rename the file "Filename.avi." It will warn you that changing extensions can cause the file to be unuseable. Tell it okay.
Hopefully it'll work fine for you! |

Thanks, Jane, but I can't take credit for that one... MoreLight told how to do that in his DVD ripping guide. It's a good trick to know! |
