OK firstly I'm new so if this has already been posted you are only allowed to hit me with soft things , and mods can only hit me with invisible things

I personally Love WMM but it has been annoying me recently, refusing to add clips, or let me edit. It is user friendly and simplified , and I love click & drag!
but
Adobe Premier looks extremely good, I'm going to start with a trial version, I dislike...no hate Adobe !, there products are annoying and overly priced!, so i dont know if i'll invest in that..but its effects...well there pretty darn good.

Anyone have a preference? or are you all like me, Love WMM for its easy to use free awesomeness

Adobe is so damn complicated and convoluted I wouldn't use it even if it was free, despite its nice effects. Throw in the big price tag, and I'd actually rather just use WMM.
WMM is horrible, it lags, crashes, and practically sets your computer on fire, but it's easy to use (otherwise) and someone who thinks out of the box can really do a lot with it. For newbies to vidding, this is the right program.
But the third option needed here is Sony Vegas - I love this program; it's easy to use, has great effects, rarely screws with your computer, and the video quality is excellent after rendering.

Though for yourself, I would just say go with whatever you understand and are most comfortable with. After Effects may have snazy effects, but if you're having trouble getting your video itself together because of the lack of easy features like drag and drop, then what's the point? Effects are extras, not basics.
However, if you know how to use it, then I'm sure you could rule with Adobe. Check out the vids by "Charmax" - all done in Adobe. Crazy.

Unfortunately I think that any other program is going to look complicated when compared to WMM... But if you give yourself time to figure it out, I think in the end you'll be happier to get rid of WMM's neurotic twitches.

And for me, I switched not too long ago to Sony Vegas Movie Studio, which is the "baby" version of Sony Vegas. It does just about everything that the full version does but at a fraction of the price.

I was tempted to run screaming for the WMM Hills when I first looked at it, I have to admit! But I'm really glad that I stuck with it. My first SVMS vid is the very first one I've ever made in which my editing program didn't hang up, shut down and die, or otherwise have a major glitchy problem.

I love the setting the computer on fire part...

Anyway, stupendous, best of luck with whatever program you end up with!

I love nero vision. It's so simmilar to wmm but has loads more effects and transitions. It took me about ten minutes to figure out. Plus in the program you get a photo editor (only basic but it makes my banners) and more. It's called nero 7 and there is a free trial on the net. like wmm but better

I have only ever heard of Adobe Premier and WMM, but maybe i should check out some other programmes, I have use WMM for so long I think i have downloaded every available add-on.

I really want to invest in something that hasnt been over-complicated, but is a good reliable programme that can be customised and updated.

My main problem with WMM (as mentioned) is its crashing every now and then, Luckily most of the time it comes up when i reload asking if i want to continue with the project it crashed on, but it starts with about 25% of what i had done!. and then it will force me into restarting it over and over after a certain amount of time,

I just ditched WMM because it was annoying me like hell (ask Aislynn) and I bought Sony Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 - its the cheap one

I have so say, I enjoy making vids now more then I did when I was using WMM and even though you might think SV is confusing, its realy not when you get some help (see Aislynn again )

Even though I don't know what Adobe Premier is like, I voted for it because, in my opinion, anything is better then WMM.
