"Lord Byron s Luggage" 06-17-2006
Yet another Zevon song. This one is Desmond. Like Prison Grove for Sayid and Poor Poor Pitiful Me for Sawyer: The lyrics and bagpipe-like sounds are spookily accurate.
Song: Lord Byron s Luggage by Warren Zevon

Length: 4:24 (21.5MB wmv)

Finally up. I'd actually wanted to make a few more edits to it, but WMM crashed and made me re-import everything, and didn't recognize the finale clips I had, and since they were pretty much the whole video, it was either remake from scratch or submit what I had, so... I'm aware it's long, at any rate.

Lyrics (and don't blame me for how creepily accurate they are! heh. I swear, sometimes I think there must be a Warren Zevon fan amongst the creators):

Lord Byron's Luggage, by Warren Zevon

Lord Byron had a lot of luggage.
He took it when he traveled far and wide.
He didn't get to bathe very often,
But he liked to change his clothes all the time.

I had a little friend named Mister Johnson
Who always tried to be like me.
He rose to the heights of his profession,
And he was hard on his friends and family.

Still out here in the wind and rain:
Look a little older but I feel no pain,
And it stands to reason I'm still looking for love.

I went to the Henley Regatta,
Intending to put out to sea.
They pronounced me persona non grata:
Goes to show that you can't come and go as you please.

Still out here in the wind and rain:
Look a little older but I feel no pain,
And it stands to reason I'm still looking for love.

Looking for a needle in a haystack;
It's pretty hard to find.
Every dog has his day, Jack -
I'm still waiting for mine.

Still out here in the wind and rain:
A whole lot older but I feel no pain,
And it stands to reason I'm still looking for love.

Hey TFC!

I'm really starting to love your videos! Your music choice is awesome (just like mine ) and the characters you use are usualy my favourites!

Anyway, I love the way you opened this video. With that great scene from 2x02 - ''Are you him?'' and the scenes from 2x01 when he is in the hatch at the beginning of the episode. I liked it when you used the whole 'Old fim' style of effect to the video, making it look old and used.

I really enjoyed this vid, can't wait for your next!

I've already told you how much I loved this vid ... but I'll say it again. I loved it! It gives a bittersweet-ness to Desmond's story ("Every dog has day, Jack, and I'm still looking for mine!" was one of my favorite lines). It makes me feel even more so for Desmond's character.

I really didn't even mind the length, in all honestly, because it just runs so smoothly. So I didn't have a problem with that at all.

Downloaded to my computer.

Great job!!

ItV: The old film effect is actually two effects: rt-age-jerky and rt-age-jerky2. One is significantly more jacked up than the other. They are located here, along with some other free effects.

PC: Thanks. Bittersweet was actually the tone that I was (a bit haphazardly) aiming for, so good to hear that that came through. And yeah, the 'Jack' line is bizarre. The song itself mirrors Desmond all too well, I think, and it's good to hear that the length isn't annoying.

Oh the hottness of Desmond, no matter his coif.
This song is so appropriate it is scary, and despite the not-so-sunshiney tone of the lyrics, neither the song nor the vid come off as morose. Nice use of effects also. They served the storytelling and weren't distracting.

Desmond is only good-looking with short hair, sorry. You know there are certain shots at the start of LT-DA that prove that. Don't make me post screencaps!

I know. I swear, one of these days, I am going to post on the Fuselage this, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, Prison Grove, and probably Mr. Bad Example or Renegade, if I ever get around to vidding them for Sawyer (hereby claiming them for videos, like anyone else is into Zevon, heh). I am going to post them in Damon or JJ's or whomever's forum, along with "WHAT" in 64-point font. I honestly suspect they must be Zevon fans. The lyrics are just too dead-on accurate, and not in a general way.

It's the E-bowed "bagpipes" that save it from being somber, I think, and the fact that the lyrics, while sad, are fairly oblique, so they don't jump out at you as being the saddest thing ever (unlike Prison Grove, heh.)

Thanks. As I said before, I figured the "old film" stuff would fit, and as far as the yellow-tinted bridge, that's not my doing - that's entirely within the show. I just saved those shots for then.

And thanks for the kudos, LF4815!
