I've just started making my first video today, and so far have got my clips from josh-holloway.com (the site Hobbes suggested in his thread).
However, I've just played back the first thirty seconds, which is all I've done, and a couple of the first clips look like they have watermarks on them! I just wanted to know if this is normal, as I don't want to be accused of anything. The first one looks like it says 'DIVX' or something, and there's another one that looks like 'jb', but actually after rechecking I think it says 'abc', lol.
I'm still quite concerned about the first one, though? It's a clip from confidence man, I believe. (Sawyer emerging from the sea) |

DivX is a coding format. To clear it out (assuming you're on Windows), go to your start menu, DivX, DivX Codec, Decoder Configuration Utility.
This will pop up an item named Decoder Properties. Go to Quality Settings and check 'Disable Logo.' There goes the DivX watermark.
As far as ABC, I think that one stays as it was recorded with the video, if you've got the video from a torrent or whatever that was recorded off TV, versus the s1 DVDs. It's certainly nowhere near as distracting as the DivX logo so I guess it's OK (especially if all of your video files have the logo.) |

Oh I see, thanks guys!
I feel like a right noob now, heh .
And don't worry, I definately haven't taken them off of anyone else, I don't see the point!
I'll try and follow your instructions thefilmchick, thanks again
//EDIT- I can't seem to find 'DivX' anywhere on my start menu? |

Start - Programs - DivX.
Should also be under (default) C:\Program Files\DivX if you can't bring it up on the start menu. |

thanks for the tip with that filmchick! I never knew that, but you could have saved me a lot of grief if I'd known it before I uninstalled and reinstalled all of my divx-related things a few months ago |
