Lost is getting some big heat from the critics among the fans (and possibly for good reason) but it is my belief that sdomething is only as good as how you look at it. If you want to focus in on the bad parts in Lost and complain about those, then it destroys any good part of the show you enjoyed. In an essence, the fact that a lost episode isn't perfect is making it much worse than perfect. In other words, it's killing lost.

Now, I don't care whether you agree with this, whether you think Lost is still as great as ever, or it's completely going downhill, this is a sanctuary thread. Episode discussion and general thread discussion can be held in here free of worrying about someone raining on the parade.

So converse, what little of you are left that still enjoy what you see! Converse and be free!

would a hearty thumbs up suffice in proving my optismism towards lost?

or maybe a group high five.
or a saved by the bell jump...

i still love the lost.

I completely agree with you, Hobbes. You're a very wise person.

Seriously, though, I feel sometimes you just got to sit back and enjoy something while it's still there. Whatever happens happens on the show, but don't let it ruin your viewing experience.

I've been watching Season 1 again (in all my copious amounts of free time... which explains why I'm only up to "Confidence Man" ) and it might be something to do if you're feeling kinda discouraged with Season 2. Or at least watch your fav ep or eps again to remind yourself of what it was that you liked about Lost in the first place.

That said, there's been a lot I've liked about this season:

1) Finally seeing inside the Hatch. I mean, whatever you might've expected, I don't think a psychological experiement from the '60's (or whenever ) was it!

2) I love that countdown clock! There's just something cool about it. And those hierogliphy symbols! Neato-frito!

3) Did I just say "neato-frito?" Why, yes I did!

4) Sawyer and Kate's interaction up to the angsty part of TLC. Their interaction after he woke up? The hair cut? The "as much as I'd like to learn to feather my hair" scene? The way he reacted while Zeke was holding her hostage? How he tried to comfort her after Jack dissed her? *sigh* All of that and more has just been pure Skater heaven!

5) I'm sure there's more but my mind just went blank... Duhhhhhh.

Well, that was a start, anyway. I'm not anywhere close to wanting to give up on Lost, despite not really caring for the direction they're taking many of the characters. Who knows? Maybe this is all some set-up for some huge twists that will leave everybody wondering what all of the earlier fuss was about?

I agree with Hobbes. I mean, the only reason we're watching Lost is to enjoy ourselves, right? To be entertained. So watching Lost while complaining about it does seem a little hypocritical. I didn't really like some season 1 episodes, but now I love all of them. And I'm really optimistic for Lost tonight because of next weeks preview: Lockdown. I think I'm gonna need popcorn and drinks for this.

I'm not saying completely focus on the good, and don't ever express bad opinions, but I am saying there desperately needs a balance, and even igf an episode isn't nearly as good as most eps, we shouldn't be treating it like crap. If Lost really is so great, then every episode should be regarded positively, with the best eps, of course, getting the big attention, while the eps we're not so happy with can still be seen for the parts of them that were good
Think of it like commenting on another's vid: if it's really good, you say a lot about how good it was. If it's so-so, you don't say much, or nothing at all, and the bad ones you give criticism to, but you still do it gently with fair reasoning and how it can improve. You could say that it doesn't matter how harsh the criticism about the show is because there's nobody official here to hear it. But every time an ep gets bashed, even for valid reasons, al that was good about it soon gets forgotten over the details of what was bad about it. Like a video with some harsh comments, when you watch the video all you can see are the bad parts. By disecting it, it ruins the magic and enjoyment. If you've ever poured over a vid of your own and saw all the mistakes in it, but posted it anyway, just to have them pointed out to you by someone else, you can bet your ass you aren't going to like that video anymore. Lost is the same way, at least for me. I see the mistakes, but when they're pointedo ut over and over, that's all it becomes: mistakes. And since nobody is there to benefit from the criticism, why give it? I never criticise a video unless I know the vidder needs it to be great in the future.
It's a buzz kill.
