Does anyone else notice that since Season 2 started, no one at ALL mentions Boone ever? Even at the end of Season 1, they totally "depersonalized" it by calling him (in ref to Shannon) "your brother". The only ones that seem to still remember are Shannon and Jack. Just was odd to me. _________________

I've noticed that, too. I figured it was one of those "things" they do so to try and not confuse any new people who have just started watching. Because clearly it's more important to cater to new people than to the people who've been watching long enough to know who everyone is...
I doubt anybody here watches this show, but NCIS did a spectacular job, IMO, of handling this same situation. Their leading lady was dramatically killed off at the end of last season's finale and not only did she get a 2 part season opener to deal with her death and funeral, but in the several eps since then, she STILL gets a mention. (Someone might say, "Why don't you ask Kate about that-- Oh..." or the like, remembering too late that she's gone. Yes, her name is Kate. ) It's more like real life where, if somebody dies, you don't just forget about them and never mention their name again!
Oh well, the Lost bunch just probably figure that they've had plenty to deal with in this season already without bringing up Boone. But still... A line here or there would've worked without throwing everything completely off track, I'd think. After all, they gave us -- what? -- 3 eps that showed the same scene with Jack, Desmond, Locke and Kate from different angles, didn't they?
Just my two cents, anyway...

I never noticed, but I agree with Aislynn's theory on it. Ading another name just makes it more confuzing lol
But looking at it from a dramatic standpoint, you could say that they don't want to think about his death, and make it seem more real, because that could have been any of them that died there, and they can't face that thought. Then there's also the fact that he wasn't really close friends with anyone on the island but Locke and Shannon, so there aren't that many who would know ans remember his name anyway. Meanwhile, they have a grieving girl who probably really doesn't need someone reminding her of him even more of him by saying his name.
I wouldn't call it a blooper or problem or anything with the show, just a choice they decided to make to phase his death out, and their interpretation of how the people would act if this situation was real. |
