My Fox channel went 'independent'.
To be honest I really didn't know what that meant. I only found thta they wanted to be more of a 'news station' So because they want to show more news...they wont show Fox programming?
'And focus on addressing the interests of our multiple viewing audiences in the Tri-State area with more locally-produced programming than they can get anywhere else'
This makes no sense. They show news like everyone else; and they don't show locally produced programming; they show reruns of shows such as The Office and so on. I really hope they don't thrive on ratings; because who's going to watch Re-runs verse new episodes?
So instead of showing shows like Fringe and Raising Hope; they show reruns of 'Big Bang Theory'? That's insane to me. I know there must be more of a legal reason...but I just don't get it.
I found I have a channel; like channel 305 that airs EVERYTHING Fox. So YAY FRINGE. But I feel bad for those who don't have cable. That's gotta suck. |

Oh, that sucks, Brooke! I hate it when channels/networks do things like that and I think it's for exactly the reason you said, something to do with money/legal reasons. I'm glad at least that you found a channel that still runs their programming so you don't just get cut off of all Fox shows you've been watching! |

I think it's sad that it happened in July 1, and I just found out Sunday.
I think it's because I kind of don't watch a lot of TV networks in the summer; mostly cable/DVD's.
But yeah; I think it has to do with money reasons; and they're just using excuses to get people to be pleased by this decision. |

Yeah same here. I didn't even know they could do that.
I was trying to find the Emmys and didn't know why they weren't playing; and realized that since my 'Fox' dropped the affiliation; they can't show any of Fox's shows; but I have a channel on Cable that does show Fox's shows.
What I don't get is; wouldn't that just kill your ratings? I mean having reruns of Tv shows up against...newer things? |

I don't see it lasting. It'll either hurt them or make them change it back. We have enough news programs here already; plus they play the news for an hour at night anyway. That's over kill of local news if you ask me.
I don't know why you wouldn't want to be affliated. I mean...having shows like Bones/Fringe/And American Idol...that's a lot of money for you.
And commercials; most people want their commercials to play at a specific time/during a specific show.
And the Super bowl; that's who play the Super bowl.
Sounds weird if you ask me. I've never heard of something like this before. |
