I was looking over my videos and I found that although some of my private videos contain the same music as my public videos, the private videos contained no messages about matching third party content, while the public video containing the same song did.

On Youtube it says you can only share the vid with 25 'friends'.But If I made a Lost vid, posted it as private but put the link up here as I normally would when submitting a video, would it still only be viewable to the 25 friends or would anyone with acess to that link be able to see it?

I'm just looking to see if there's a loophole that would let me post my video the way I want it without Youtube muting, blocking, or otherwise screwing up my vids.

Also, do Unlisted vids fair any better than Public videos when it comes to Youtube muting and blocking content?

No. An unlisted video of mine still matched music content that made it blocked in Germany (though viewable in its same form elsewhere.)

At least in the US, the Private option requires you to enter a Youtube username to send it out, so I doubt the link would be viewable without login as one of the 25 chosen friends.

It's really difficult to "sneak" new vids past all of the copyright checks they now have up. I find that some older vids escape notice for a while because they receive so many new ones that it takes a while for them to go back through the log of all of they already had on site. But I think as long as a vid can be viewed publicly, it's fair game to get a country-block/full disabling/muting put on it if the music belongs to a company that requires YT to disable unauthorized use of the song in some form or another.

One thing that I find extremely annoying is that sometimes Youtube will show your vid as blocked just in some countries but still viewable everywhere else... but then you find that actually nobody can see it! I had a vid like that, that had the "blocked in some countries" message on it but I could see it just fine. However, it never got any comments on it and I eventually realized that the view count had never moved out of the single digits. When I signed out, it was blocked for me and everybody else I asked to try to view it. So it was just fooling me by letting me see it when I was signed in but actually there was no place on planet Earth that could watch it otherwise. I just wish they would've told me that so I wouldn't have wondered for so long what was wrong with it!

it does that to me too! And sometimes it likes to be confusing and say "As a result, your video has been blocked worldwide. Your video is still available worldwide."

That sounds like what happened with my last vid (Christmas Pics).

I was just hoping there was some little trick to get Youtube to leave the videos alone. It's just so frustrating to go to the work of making a vid and then have it blocked virtually everywhere.

Thank you all for replying.
