I had about the same problem with Sony Vegas on my laptop. It just stopped working one day.I was never able to fix that particular problem. However when I encountered the problem again after installing Sony Vegas on a different computer I found one thing that works.
My advice would be to see if you have any extra clips, pictures, music, etc that you can temporarily remove from your computer (perhaps put on a flash drive or CD) and see if that helps at all. That usually helps me out and allows Sony Vegas to render.
On one vid I did a while back I watched to see how far the vid would make it before it stopped rendering and then I would go back and render that much of the video, and if possible delete all clips used in that section. It wasn't ideal but I got it rendered finally.
I think you will get alot better advice than having to delete your other media files but this is what works for me.
Good Luck with you video,I know how frustrating Sony Vegas can be.
