Assuming you mean what I think you mean: Set automatic crossfades at the top--the green and blue button that looks like little 'hills' or something--and then drag one clip over the other to overlap. It'll automatically fade. You can change the fade type by right-clicking and choosing the 'fade type' option (or similar wording: I don't have Vegas in front of me right at this moment).
If that screws with your time, adjust velocity (speed) by right-clicking on either clip and 'insert envelope: velocity.' You can adjust this either by dragging on the green line that appears or clicking on the square atop the green line and entering a number (and if you enter more points, you can arc the speed ie having the clip start out slow and then speed up, having it gradually go down, or any other number of things.) _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's.
