Idle curiosity; I'm sure this has been bandied about several times:

Anyone still around at this hour of the US night, how do you decide on what videos to make? When I am finished with the one still going through beta stages, I have about five projects I've half-started and five other ideas for songs. If I'm good at anything, it's finding appropriate songs--but I'm less good at the follow-through/settling on which I want to do when. So I have to kind of ride herd on it a bit and choose carefully.

I know some deciding factors are:
* If I've vidded that person a lot recently.
* If I've used that musician more than a few times recently (yes, I have my favorites, but I try to space them out. I'm not always successful at that, admittedly.)
* If I've used something with that sort of beat/musical setup (fast song, slow song, heavy drums, heavy guitar, etc.) recently.

I'm curious if other people are as analytical as I am in choosing what they make, or if they fly more by the seat of their (collective) pants. For those of you who are statistical nerds like I am, what else decides what you do and when you do it?

For me, I just do what I feel like at the time I usually get inspired by songs and if it's something I feel I can do I'll make a note of it. When I get an idea (either for a plot, or a song - it's usually songs) I write them down and stick them on my "sticky board". There's loads up there at the moment But I usually just start them when I feel like it and when I get bored with one project I start up another. A bit of a simple way really but I guess it works

yeah I don't care how many times I've vidded a certain character or artists...If I get a good Idea I go for it. I mainly make AU vids so sometimes a song will give an idea for a vid...but usually I come up with a story first and then hunt for a song that would work for it.

I generally vid whatever I feel like. Which results in lots of Shoone vids because I really enjoy vidding them for some reason. I sometimes think I should try vidding something new, but who am I to say no to a good idea? Plus Shoone are undervidded anyway. Someone's gotta give them some appreciation.

I, too, vid whatever I want no matter when the last time I vidded it was... Lately, I tend to start vids and finish them really quickly, so I don't get tired of it, lol. And, because I'm in a vidding frenzy lately () I tend to go listen to a bunch of music until something hits, and I must vid it. It's a fun way to vid. Might not work for many other people, but I like my system.

I also have a bunch of vid ideas just sitting in the back of my head... I should take a leaf outta Jemma's book and make, like, a list of them all. So I get to them all someday.

I have a number of things that make up my vidding To Do list...

- first thing is just pure song inspiration... listening to my iPod and then something speaks to me... it suddenly clicks with a certain character/couple/fandom and I just have to vid it...
- then I sort of have a "want to vid" list in the back of my mind... things that I'm either fangirling over or faves I haven't vidded in a while... and I sort of keep it in my head that I want to vid them and keep an eye (ear?) out for a good song for them

and I totally have an actual list typed up... sort of grouped into immediate to do list (the ones I have songs for and actually intend on starting soon-ish)... a someday to do list (ones I have songs for but keep getting pushed back)... and then vague ideas (things I want to vid, story ideas, that I don't have a song for yet)

but I can only actually work on one at a time... I'm not one that can be working on 5 things at once... if I move on, the previous vid I've started won't get finished
