I don't know if it is sony vegas or my computer.

But Sony Vegas is freezing on me a lot. I can't work 2 minutes on the video before it starts to crash. And I usually have to close out and lose whatever I work on. It really sucks.

I went to Sony Vegas forums but I get no help. I even went on Ask Yahoo and no one will get back to me.

I work on a video, and if I go to lets say the internet, it freezes and I get get back in. Yesterday I was working on it and it just froze in mid action.

I barely have any thing that takes over my compute'rs memory. I have all of my clips on a different harddrive. So I don't know what the problem is.

It just freezes more than it used too.

Have you updated?? Go into "Help" I think it is when your in Vegas and there's a latest updates thing, that sometimes fixes problems like that.

Is it just the one video? or all of your videos? If it's just the one, my advice is to copy/paste all the footage/songs, etc and put them in a new, empty project. I've done that before and its fixed the freezing thing ;P

Also, uninstalling/reinstalling might help fix the problem if the above don't work

It started to be one. I didn't have issues with the latest one that I uploaded but now it's all videos.

I'll try that. Thanks.

I checked my computer and they told me that I need to update my 'video driver'. Could that be the problem?

I did it. But it still freezes like it did. Always says 'Not responding'.

This computer is really crappy. I had two harddrives in one year, a fan after that.

I am probably going to have to get a new one sometime soon.

I'll still work on my contest entry though.

I know the pain of shitty laptops :S mine died this week, had to send it for repairs and its still gone :S I've barely had it a year and a half and its had to be repaired 4 times for overheating, corrupted graphics drive, etc. I'm getting a new one on Monday, finally, and its built for vidding

it might also be a space thing, just in the fact that so much video usage is used when making vids in Vegas and it requires a lot more power.

i heard. I am so sorry. I know about crappy labtops.

How much is a computer that is built for vidding if you don't mind me asking? I am pretty heavy with computers. I am more used to desktops. I think that might be the case with me. I found a laptop that is 479 with 4 GIGS. I might get it.

And do you use a PC or a Mac?

Aw, thanks

well, im in australia so ours are generally more expensive becuase of our dollar :S The one im getting is $1500. ( I was talking to stacey (kuliet4ever) and she works in a store that sells comps in the US and the most expensive one they sells is 900, so that just tells you how much more it seems here;)]

Its a Toshiba, which are sturdy laptops, but I had a really good conversation with the salesguy. I told him i was studying film/video editing at uni so the laptop needs to be able to withstand that sort of use and that seemed to help when he was showing me laptops. I also told him about my soft spot for Sims 3 and how it needs to be speedy And that helped too I would suggest saying that you are studying or working in editing, instead of saying your a vidder whcih can be an awkward convo lol, and that would help them understand what you're after. it has 4GB of RAM too, most come with that by default these days, but with vidding your wanting a good CPU usage, that directly affects the speed at which the vid renders So make sure that's a good one But if you talk to a salesguy and really hammer home that you need it for editing, they'll understand what kinda comp you're after

One thing tho, beware the size of the screen lol Cos he at first wanted to sell me a Toshiba that was almost 1800 which was exactly the same as the one I am actually getting, only the screen is bigger. Since I dont mind, i opted for the 1500 one

Oh and I'm a PC user I dont care what people say about Mac's, i refuse to get one Plus, you can't use Vegas on it

My big advice, DO NOT GET AN ASUS!!! that's the laptop im getting repaired and ive had nothing but issues with it

I did have 2 GIGS for my other laptop but I went ahead and got 4 because VIsta needs more Ram, and it wasn't getting along with Sony. I have a Dell and because of this hassel I don't think I'll get a Dell again.

I actually heard from a lot of people that Toshabia's are better laptops.

I am a PC user as well. I've had to use Macs for school and I just don't care for them. My uncle always brags about it. I really enjoy Sony Vegas when it works. LOL.

I've had good convos with Salespeople. Sometimes you get one who cares about the buyer and sometimes you get those guys who don't know what they're talking about and you make them look like am amateur.

Oh yeah. I don't care about my screen. I don't want something TINY TINY. But I don't need want to spend 300 dollars more for a bigger screen. LOL.

Right now I am saving up for a better one.

yeh, my one that just died have two gigs of Ram and wsa running vista so no wonder it was slow :S they all seem to have 4 now by default with Windows seven coming in :S

Ive heard good things about Toshiba as well; quite a reliable brand They withstand more use

I hate Mac braggers, lol they are pretty and stremlined, but i still hate them lol

Yeh i hate those salespeople who treat you like an amateur. this one was good; he didn't abbreviate or 'dumb down' what he was saying I hate when they do that :S

Yeh, its not a TINY screen (i hate those wannabe laptops) its 16 inch. Actually here's a link to it It says 1800, but its 1500 if you buy in store :]

ive been saving for a long while!! Mum kicked in 500 as part of my christmas present

That was really nice of your mum to do that.

I got my laptop about 1 year and 6 months ago. I don't think they're built to last like they used to.

I just want a laptop to get me from point A to point B but mine didn't want to do that for me.

I've delt with great salespeople and then the jackass'.

Not a bad price.

Kat my new computer is one of the A500s too and I totally love it... actually looks like they made a couple other changes when they switched from Vista to 7, but that's almost the same as mine

my last laptop was also a Toshiba and it lasted for 5 years.... I'm definitely a fan

I wan to get a Toshiba. Five years is a long time. Both of my previous desktops have lasted at least 4 and then crashed.

So do you like Windows 7?

mine came with Vista and then I upgraded to 7 fairly recently... I quite like it... love the new taskbar... and I had XP for a long time before that so I still love how easy it is to search through folders.... it does have compatibility issues with my old printer though
