Edited: Previous problem sort of solved except for...

Why is my flash showing through beneath my border graphic? Is there a way to prevent that? I've literally tried everything.

I always found the graphics too difficult to work with. Now if I want my clips to be widescreen in Vegas, I just get cookie cutter set for the whole video (I add the effect using the little icon above/near the preview window) and select cookie cutter twice as a rectangle shape. Then I rearrange them to make the clip look widescreen Does that help?

Have you tried right-clicking the border in the pan/crop tool and selecting match output aspect (or something worded similar to that)? If your border is just not quite the exact same size as your project, then it will let things show around it.

Now, if you mean that the flash is actually showing through your border... Are you using the chroma keyer on it to make part of it transparent? (Like making the center transparent for the video part to show through?) Sometimes the chroma keyer gets a little TOO happy with itself and picks up other parts of the image to make transparent. In that case, you have to fiddle with the levels for the keyer until it's not quite as sensitive.

If you've tried all of those, maybe could you spot render an example so we can see exactly what it's doing? Or screencap it, whatever is most convenient? Sometimes it just helps to be able to see it!

Good luck, hope you get this sorted out soon! ♥!

Hey, Ais!

Yeah, I've tried the match output aspect thinger. I think you might be onto something with the chroma key deal, so I'm gonna give that a whirl and see what happens. Thank you, and stay tuned! (((HUGS)))

Thanks, Ais!

Well, I thought the chroma key thing was going to work, but then that rascally flash still came through. So, what I think I'm going to do is try just rendering out the whole video with no border or anything, and then pull the rendered version back into Vegas and try slapping the border on top of that. If that doesn't work, I can only assume this project is bewitched and it may just have to look funky. LOL!

(((BIG HUGS))) and thanks for the help!

Julia

Oh, bummer, I was hoping that would work! Well, that definitely ought to do the trick if you render it without the border, then with it. *keeps fingers crossed*

So, I'm still planning on doing what I mentioned above, but I thought I'd come in here and add this HI-larious little tidbit...

I had a bout of sleep deprived inspiration while driving back from my pup's routine vet appointment, and decided to try something other than black bars for my border. So, I made a new border graphic and imported it just to see what it would look like, and completely randomly it worked and rendered just fine. I was all set to keep going with it (and not have to worry about doing plan B afterall) when, several perfect spot renders later, it randomly started rendering with the gap above and below again. It is just the weirdest thing ever. The only thing I can think of that changed is that I added a new video track which I put a couple of solid media generated backgrounds into (which I needed for a cookie cutter effect on two clips), but I even tried setting those to "match output" and it still was screwy. Oh well. I think my Vegas is losing it's mind. And all I can say is it had better not!!!!
