Hi guys.
This is the first video I've ever made.
I recently got a laptop that came with WMM so I decided to have a play with it. Sorry if it's a bit naff - but it is my first attempt
Are there any better programs out there? |

Tried to watch this earlier but it wouldn't buffer for some reason :s Anyway, this was good for your first vid! Great lyric intepretation and excellent song choice It fit very well Probably would have been nicer if there was some more beat use though.
There are better programmes. The one I use is Sony Vegas. The problem is that you have to pay for it :\ But some people can make amazing videos with WMM, there are some posted here at LVI!
If you want any further help, there are a number of tutorials on the site that can help you with beat use and other things
Alot of the threads can be found in this section: Technical Vidding Help or Artistic Vidding Help. So you can have a look round there for threads to help you with WMM or Vegas if you choose to get it |

Hi there! Nice video, and since I haven't seen your name before, I'm assuming it's your first? Does your laptop have XP or Vista? Most of us started with WMM, but after I made my first LOST video with it, I couldn't open the program again. I guess using so many clips, lol. Sony Vegas is the most popular choice to go with. I got my copy of it on Ebay for half the price and haven't been unhappy with it, though I'd like to get a newer version. You can download a trial on their site I believe. |

Thanks for th comment Jemmz I tried to do some beat use but I found WMM to be very limiting... although that is probably just me using it wrong lol I'll check out those threads and hopefully I can improve enough for the next contest
Angelic, yeah this is my first video I have Vista on my laptop. I've heard SV is good so I will probably give that free trial a go if I can't get the hang of WMM |

Videos can be difficult to make with WMM depending on how you do the clips. What caused my issues with WMM was when I tried to put a whole episode on there and clip it. WMM was alright, it had decent transitions and effects, but SV....I can't express how thankful I am for that program, lol!
It can be overwhelming to use at first because of the layout of it and how much more it has, but there are some excellent guides here on the site and everyone is pretty good about helping others out, so you'll have a nice support system. Unfortunately the trial (only used it once a long time ago) has only either a certain amount of time you can use it, or will limit you in how you make your vids. Can't remember which, but probably it will limit the days you can have it installed without buying it. I got SV6 when it was new, originally 80 bucks but got it for 40 on Ebay. You can go that route if you eventually look to buy. Haven't had one issue, wasn't damaged, serial number worked, so Ebay is reliable.
In any case, it was very well done for your first vid, I understand about WMM and limitations. Keep making vids and you'll get better with each one. I would also suggest just making a couple of very short vids just to experiment with effects and beat use. You don't have to submit them, just make them as practice to see what you can do with the program, whether it be SV or WMM. Good luck! |

Check out CaptainFreya's vids...she made a lot of them with WMM...with lots of beat use...you just have to learn how to be creative with it...I use imovie which is a little better than WMM but not as good as Vegas as it as kind of limiting as well in what it can do...but I still manage to be creative with it..here is a vid of Freya's that she did with WMM....

I really enjoyed your vid though! Lyric interpretation was great! And I just wanted to make sure you know that you don't need a fancy program to make a great vid..you just need lots of practice and some imagination. You'll get there! _________________

Very nice! I made my first vid (also DesPenny) on WMM, too, but also switched to Vegas, and I love it! Keep up the great work!!! |

very sweet Despenny vid you used some of my fave scenes of them I would have liked much more beat use for the fact it was such a beat heavy song but, as a former WMM-er myself, I know how tough that can be as Nikki said; there are a number of vidders on here who've used WMM successfully with beats but definitely keep at it! |

But good job and keep going

I thought this was a really good first vid! It was very touching! I loved the song too, it suited them both well. I would have liked a little bit more beat use, but WMM can be difficult to work with and you did soo good for your first time! Good luck in the contest.
As to your question, I think what everyone else said was really great, but I also wanted to add that there is a thread that may help you for WMM, which is in "Artistic Vidding Help"Making good vids with WMM It was started by PsychoCynic Check it out, it's got great pointers! _________________ Jin is lost in Sunlation forever..

I love Despenny vids! Nice first vid! On your next vid, try to work on the beat use a bit more. Welcome to LVI! |

Welcome to LVI! I understand about WMM, half of the Lost vids I've done so far were all made with either WMM ver 1 (no effects or titles, only fade for a transition) or 2 and I'll always remember the pain, lol! But it's like what Nikki said, great vids can be made on any program with a little time and practice! So don't give up, even if you don't have a bigger program just yet!
I can recommend Sony Vegas Movie Studio as a cheaper alternative to the full version of Vegas, by the way. It has about 98% of all of the effects and such of the full version but at a fraction of the cost!
Anyway, this was a great start for your first vid! I loved the song for them! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next! ♥! |

Congrats on finishing your first vid!! You did a really good job! I'm pretty sure almost everyone on this site started off right where you are now. And we’ve all experienced the trouble that comes with working with WMM. Just keep working at it and don't get discouraged. Great vids can be made with even the simplest of programs, just like Nikki said.
DesPenny is so adorable, and you chose some really great clips to use.
I can't wait to see many more vids from you. |
