I just did a test render of my latest vid and decided that I didn't like the transition I was using for a whole block of split clips. I've tried clicking on the clip and doing "replace plug-in", but even though the new plug-in appears on the clip in the timeline, it's not appearing in the actual video. There's just no transition at all.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

My goal is to replace this group of transitions with another transition, but I don't want to have to delete each one, and fix each clip, before manually re-adding them. If I can help it.

You should be able to just drag the new transition onto the place where the original one is happening (expand your timeline until you can see where your clips are crossing over each other and just drag the transition onto that crossed over place) and that should replace it. But if it's not, you should be able to go into the transition via the button on the clip right under the pan/crop symbol, (it looks kinda like a puzzle piece to me ) then remove the transition by picking that same button with a red X on it up at the top right of the dialog box. That should leave you with just a basic fade where your clips are overlapping, then you just drag the new one onto the place where they overlap.

I'm not sure if you can do that in batches, if that was what you were looking for since you have a lot of clips to do the replacing with. But you should be able to do them one at a time without a problem.

Ok! So, I guess it's not really messing up the clip, per se, if I just hit the x and remove the plug-in, right? I think that was my main concern, is that I was worried it would do something weird to my clip/timing. Anyway, I'm gonna try what you suggested first before I do the remove plug-in thing.

No, it' shouldn't "move" the clips at all on the timeline. If you just take the transition off, it should leave you with a fade where the clips overlap. If it doesn't, then you may not have automatic crossfades on or a couple of other bells, buttons or whistles that can sometimes effect the clips. Try it with just one and if it moves the clips or does something you don't want it to, then you can undo it and it should hop right back where it was, no harm, no foul.

Then let us know what it did and we can help you figure out what do-dad might have gotten pushed when you didn't want it to be. (I ran into a button that picked up ALL the timelines and moved them when I moved one clip and I didn't know I'd ever clicked it and it took forever to figure out why my music wouldn't stay put when I tried to move one of the video clips! I can laugh about it now but, I swear, at the time I thought I was doomed to just never use Vegas again! )
