Now that we've got the new season back in full swing, just a reminder about spoilers and how they fit in the episode discussion threads.
If the new episode has aired/is currently airing in your local timezone, then you're allowed to talk about it. Spoiler text is required only for things that haven't been aired (and generally, if you want to talk about something that hasn't been aired, you're better off making a thread for it in the Show (Spoilers!) section of the board anyway ).
So you're fine not spoiler texting the following in an episode discussion thread:
"Dude, did you just see the polar bear parachute out of the airplane a few seconds ago? Wasn't that cool???"
But you would spoiler text (or make a thread in the Spoilers section to talk about it in depth):
"And I read that next week we're finding out that the polar bear was actually FLYING THE PLANE first!"
So if you happen to be in one of the last timezones where the new episode airs or if you weren't able to watch it when it aired or if you're waiting for another means to watch it *ahem* and you're concerned about being spoiled, then you're better off not going into the episode discussion threads until you've had a chance to see the episode. That way the people who have watched or are watching can discuss things freely.
In the same vein, though, if you've just seen the new episode, please be courteous to people in later timezones and don't discuss the events that just happened outside of the episode discussion thread without spoiler texting it. When in doubt outside of the ep discussion thread, spoiler text it.
That way the spoiler-phobes and spoiler-hounds can both enjoy the new episodes without worry! Happy viewing! |
