Any X-Files fans here? If so, what do you think about the second X-Files movie which will be released in July 2008. Looking forward to it? Or do you think it should've ended with Season Nine (if not earlier)?
Some random thoughts:
I used to be a huge X-Files fans, though I was really disappointed that the show get worse and worse ever since the sixth season (at least to me :-/). I missed a lot of episodes of Season Eight and Nine because I lost interest quite a lot when Mulder disappeared. Not because I was such a huge fan of that character (not at all, I'm a Scully girl!!  ), but because the show was the "Mulder and Scully"-show to me and not the "Scully, Doggett and Reyes"-show. Nonetheless, I learned to love those new characters after a while, especially Doggett, and I really hope they'll be in the second movie.
The finale was no way satisfying though. It was a huge letdown.  We didn't get all the answers we were waiting for, some of the plotlines didn't make any sense anymore and what about Baby William??? ??? I really hope we'll get some more anwers to these things.
Oh, and concerning the cast --> Xzibit??? WTF?

I totally agree with you that the show continued to go down hill. I think it would have still gone out strong if it had ended in season 6 or season 7 at the latest. I watched the entire 8th season but I gave up by season 9 and got hooked on Alias instead b/c it came on at the same time. I did watch the series finale though and wasn't too impressed but I did like the end scene with Mulder and Scully cuddling in bed together. I'm glad they are doing the movie b/c I think it is their last chance of actually redeem what once was an amazing show. I think the movie could be really great if the script is good enough and I have complete faith that GIllian Anderson and David Duchovny can sell whatever is thrown at them. I'm also curious if the movie is going to take place in 2012. Wasn't that the date of the final alien invasion that CSM mentioned at the end, before he blew up? I really hope Scully gets her son back! How awful for her to have to give him up she's been through so much already!

Oh and I just took a look at the cast. I love Amanda Peet! I wonder who she will play?

I absolutely LOVED X-Files, and I still enjoy watching reruns, tho around season 6 or 7, it started going downhill and once Mulder left and wasn't a series regular anymore...I dunno, I just didn't enjoy it nearly as much. I was ok with Doggett and Reyes as characters, but I'd like them better on a different show. This is the 'Mulder and Scully Show' people, NOT the 'Scully, Dogget, and Reyes Show'. xD It just wasn't the same...
Hmm, I'm curious about the timeframe of the movie as well. What year will it be? What will the storyline be? Will they try to pick it up from where it ended, will it include William, or will it be totally different than what we expect?  So many questions! But I definitely want to see it!!

I definitely want to see it! I never was into the show as much as I would've liked: I missed enough eps that I got totally lost in the mythology  but I always loved Scully and Mulder (together, of course, 'cause I lives to ship, ya know! ). I hope they'll give them a little more of a real ending this time, if this is indeed going to be the end.  (Though you know I loved the whole cuddling thing, too... ♥! ) |
