That's actually one of the things that was the hardest for me to wrap my mind around - because you can zoom in/out with Vegas, you just don't do it anything like you do in WMM! Pardon me for grabbing some all-purpose screencaps from a different tutorial thingie I did a while back... (though if you ever want to know how to mirror image a clip, this will tell you how! )
Also, I'm assuming that Vegas 7.0 works the same as my Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 for things like this. If it doesn't seem to be correct, let me know!
To zoom in or out, you use the pan/crop tool. So start by clicking the icon that's on the clip you want to zoom in on:
When you click it that opens up the pan/crop box:
See that little timeline at the bottom that says "Position" to the left of it? There's a little half a diamond on the left of that line. That's a keyframe which is indicating that at that particular spot the pan/crop tool is where you see it at (which is "regular" size at this moment). Click down farther on that timeline and a new keyframe will appear.
See those little boxes around the edges of the pic? Left-click on one of the corners and drag it to resize your clip. If you drag it into the clip, that's creating a zoom in to whatever spot on the frame to take it to. If you drag it away from the clip, that's creating a zoom out.
The closer on that little timeline the two keyframes are, the faster the zooms will happen. For a slow zoom, you'd put them as far apart as you can. For a quick one, you put them closer together. You can keep dragging them around until you get it the way you'd like it.
You can also click on the keyframe again and resize or change the position of the pan/crop tool if you don't like the way it looked the first time. It has a lot of possibilities, you just have to play around with it until you get it the way that you'd like!
Hope that all makes sense! Good luck with it, Vegas is a mighty powerful editing program and has so many options it can seriously overwhelm you. But it's really worth it once you get the hang of it! |

Yay. Thanks so much. That seems easy enough. I'll give it a try when I'm not a hop, skip and a jump from failing Sociology and drowning in a sea of homework lol You'd think all this would be made clearer. Sony Vegas seems dark and confusing - It's the Sin City of the vidding world! |

I'll help you with your sociology (if you help me with math)! I just took my final today and got my final paper back as well and i did ok! Hang in there, the semester's almost over (at least for me).
Thanks for the mini tutorial, Ais. I don't need to use it right now, but who knows when I might later? I love having these here and available if I need them. _________________

Yeah.. these tutorials are dead good. Useful to know stuff, even if you don't need em straight away.
And yeah - it is good that the term's nearly over but I've got my A2 exams straight after Christmas so I'm meant to be revising over me holidays! Bummer..
I think I'll work on my latest video instead... Tis a ker-azy crossover: Kate and Adam Levine from Maroon 5. Weird? yes. Challenge? hell yeah. Way more important than sociology? hmmm maybe.. lol |
