I have a video that is all but done in WMM.
In a halfhearted attempt to try and learn Vegas, I was going to attempt to 'post-process' in there, if you will, to smooth out one small effect in it that amounts for ~10 seconds (if that) of the entire 3 minute, 15 second video.
If I do attempt that, then when I post the video to LVI, should I list it as WMM or Vegas? My thought is WMM, as that accounts for the overwhelming majority of work, but I'm not sure.
Thanks! _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

Since WMM did the majority of the "heavy lifting" and Vegas is just basically doing an effect, I'd say call it WMM. You can always just mention that Vegas did the effect if you'd like, that way people won't say, "ZOMG, how'd you get WMM to DO that????" |

Capisce. I may not even bother with Vegas, as post-processing seems to be even more work than just starting a new vid in Vegas, but it's worth knowing for the future, if I don't.
Also, are there any 'Vegas for the really really slow children' tutorials hanging around? Fan4Lost's site is down and I'm too much of a beginner to even grasp Paul's tutorial, so. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

I actually haven't found any tutorials that worked for me. They all seemed a bit complicated, or just didn't tell me what I wanted to know. I found it easiest to just experiment and play around with it, and ask questions to people who are 'experts' every once in a while for singular things. Such as, if I wanted to do one particular effect or something, ask how to do that, one thing at a time. I don't really learn well from tutorials myself, and it can be so intimidating, this is just how I learned. If you look in 'other Fandom Vids' and go in mine and watch my short Smallville vid, you'll see the extent of what I learned in 30 days from just experimenting. It's not perfect mind you, and there are a few things in it that annoyed me, but it's just an example. _________________

The main key I've found with the tutorials is to look at them in sections so they don't seem overwhelming. For example, the first thing you'll need to know how to do in Vegas is to import your source material and then how to get the clips you need onto the timeline to begin editing them. Paul's tutorial covers that pretty well if you just go step by step through it.
I always advise people to try a very simple practice vid first, minimum effects, not trying to do all of the keyframing/cookie cuttered/masked/overlays with extra saturation or whatever and just get a feel for hitting the beats and such. Finding the white flash effect (Vegas' version of WMM's fade in/out to white) is usually tricky because it's not where you'd expect it to be. So find the basic stuff like that before really trying something ambitious. Nobody ever pays attention to my advice, though! I understand, it's so tempting to really get in there and try all of the fab things Vegas can do!
As for a basic tutorial, I've also found it's easier to ask specific questions of people telling what exactly it is that you're trying to do and what's going wrong, especially if it's something that's not in one of the tutorials. There's just a lot to Vegas and it's hard to have a really comprehensive, easy to understand guide to all of it! |

No it's not, just some of them aren't back up yet. Having a little home stuff going on right now.
Half are up, the other half will be done soon. |
