LVI Clip Theft Guide
1.) What is clip theft?
"Clip Theft" is using another vidder's clips for your own vid without his or her permission. It doesn't necessarily have to be "stealing," i.e. taking someone else's clips knowingly and on purpose. A vidder is often dependent on other people's help for clips, especially if he doesn't have any other possibilities to get the clips he needs. It can then easily happen that he ends up using stolen clips without even knowing it. While we understand that, we cannot tolerate any form of clip theft.
Any vidder spends a lot of time working on a vid. He puts a lot of effort, patience and even money into video making. Just imagine what it often takes: a good editing program, ripping programs, tv cards, DVDs and so on.
Vidders take pride in carefully selecting and editing each clip and in choosing transitions and effects that built certain moods or convey certain feelings. It simply isn’t very fair to use someone else's clips after they spend so much time, money and effort working on a vid... don't you think?
2.) What will happen to vids with clip theft?
Every vid with clip theft will be deleted and the vidder will be notified. Repeated clip theft will eventually lead to the vidder's permanent banishment. He or she will still be able to post in the forums, but won't be allowed to submit any vids to the LVI anymore.
In case of unintentional clip theft, we give every vidder the chance to re-submit a vid once it’s re-edited and clip theft-free.
We know that getting the right clips can be a real pain, but we kindly ask every LVI vidder to be fair and honest and to not steal clips. Thank you! _________________
