IMO, the secret to enjoy this one is to just ignore the sometimes laughable acting (some of it is possibley worse than E1 and E2 ) and focus on the truely epic storytelling and visuals.
It's strange how the performances are so varied. On one hand, Ian McDiarmid and Ewan do a superb job, Hayden Christensen seems to jump from pathetic to great depending on the scene, and any scene with Hayden and Natalie is just embarasingly horrible.
But the story is the best since Empire in my opinion. This is from a diehard OT fan.
So, flawed, but still very enjoyable.

I wanted to like it, and I did. But it won't go on my list of favourite movies or anything. It was enjoyable, yes, it was cool, yes, it was sad at parts, yes. But each of those was never really on a memorable level... yeah I thought it was fun when R2D2 burned those damn droids, but I'm never gonna remember this movie as some epic time of my life or anything.
Then again, I've never had a craze for star wars... go figure. I saw episode one first, so that kinda ruins what's left LOL
Best movie of the prequels, however
Check out what Javi, our star writer for Lost, has to say about this! Go man go!

Now LOTR, on the other hand: Beautiful >.<
And don't make me mention The Last Samurai |

E, as typical, you said exactly what I would have, but better. That's exactly how I feel about it. Wow. It's scary how often we're on the same page. _________________

Jake: yeah, I figured we might have similar views since you're about the age to be a genuine Star Wars kid and, although I'm a little younger, I caught the tail end of it via VHS and yard sales. I still have quite the collection of old SW toys.
Hobbes: That was an interesting read. Even if it feels like I've read it before. I actually agree with him on most every point there. Meaning, yeah, it's a worth-while film, but you have to look past (or at least laugh hysterically at) it's rough spots.
In that spirit, check this out:

[in my best Damon Wayons doing the ebonics convict] Uh huh, sounds like a SEE--OHH---INNN--SPIRACY.
No, it's not like it's a big deal. Oh no, the amighty prophetic words of Jake have disappeared into the great unknown. I'm sure this board could use one or two less GLORIOUS comments anyhow. _________________
