Now, is it the controversial day ever or is that when Harry cheated or some other day?

Gee, it's amazing how much you can miss by only coming online at night, huh? I feel so left behind, so... lost!

*entire world groans at bad pun*

Ahem, anyway, turning the topic back around the original one for a moment, here...

That animation was freakin' fantabulous! That was absolutely the coolest thing I've ever seen from somebody that I actually knew! Just totally awesome! What program did you use? *dying of suspense*

That was just so awesome! *officially repeating myself* It was like a video game! (Which, as you should know, is High Praise when it comes from me! )

I'd continue on but I only allow myself to repeat "awesome" over and over again just two times, then I figure I'm starting to bore people...

Seriously, that was totally killer! Cool deal!

Awwwwwwww thanks Aislynn , but it's not THAT worthy of all the exclamation points! Didn't you see the kid magically swivel on his feet?!
This project was all done on a program called Cinema 4D Release 8, which is basically the WMM of animation: Easy to use, and not all that high-quality. (but at least it didn't crash constantly)
The actual movement of the objects in here took the least time of anything. The kid wasn't added in until the last week or so I was that close to the deadline. Most of my time was spent makign that car EXCRUCIATINGLY over-detailed which I tried to at least show off with those close-ups! The actual movement of the entire thing only spans about..... 8 seconds LOL I just had 5 seperate cameras following the car so I could cut to a different camera here and there (and use a shot twice once in a while) if I needed it the song I just picked up in the LAST day, from my other video, and the entire thing came together miraculously the lyrics fitting it like I imagined a car commercial would be

The hardest part was making the car by a process called "splining" where you take one uhhh... "line" with points along it, then copy that and paste it as another line right next to that, then moving those points around. Then the dots get connected and the "canvas", as it were, spreads across there making it a 3D image Anyway, to make, say, the hood of the car, I needed to put a spline every "foot" or so through it, so I could keep that bulged shape that a hood has. This I had to do for every piece of the car (doors, tailgate, hood, etc) until I had it. It took a LONG time, a lot longer than if I had just taken a cube and pulled each corner of it to the right spots, then chop that cube into tiny tiny pieces and moving each of those to the right spot as well...... but I probably lost you all a long time ago! heheheh.... heh... listen to me ramble on about it! oh well

Another really hard and annoying part was making that entire neihborhood the car drives through.... I made one house, then copied it and changed it's colours, then made different types of trees and copied those too. But when I coipied so damn many things, the system really got overworked and it was SOOOOOO DAMMMMMNNN LAAAGGGGYY the entire time!
If I had wanted to render the entire project in full quality all at once, it would have taken 65 hours SIXTY FIVE!
So I took it home, downloaded a copy of the animation program and left a chunk of the project to render overnight each night... and eventually I got it done! yay!

Thanks for your question! oh wait, you didn't have a question! oh well!

lol thanks. wow, this one's an old topic! I've made a few more since then, but nothing I can really show you guys. Hopefully you'll all see my biggest project soon enough.

If you'd like to try out some 3D animation, you can probably get a free trial of the program Cinema 4D Release 9, which is what I use. It's pretty simple to learn as far as these things go (though still pretty tough ). I might be able to set you up with some tutorials though

Well thanks, but I already have my own CG software that I'm quite familiar with (infact I'm working on a scorpion project right now I might show you guys once it's finished). I just wanted to see what your stuff and your software is like, outside of Lost videos.

oh I see! Okay then, well here's my very old and outdated sample of my skilsl http://media.putfile.com/Ferrari-56 that was when I knew nothing abotu textures, and all of those things in the background are live, well-detailed models that thing took about 24 hours to render...
yeah, not so bright LOL
With the high render time, and the high modeling time to make all that (and the car itself) it meant the animation didn't actually... do anything but oh well...

Anyway, I've made one major project since then that you shoudl hopefully be able to see in a few weeks or so, as well as the animation integrated into my vids, and a little 7-hour animation I made for a school contest here (that's concept and creation though. lol) and I'd rather not show it unless you make me I'm not too proud of it.

I'd love to see some of your stuff! Is the scorpion your first, or just your first major?

Now you know I'm gonna twist your arm until you let me see it, so we might as well get that out of the way right now... (Unless it's the one I've already seen, which was awesome. I just don't want to miss anything, you know... )

Ahem. Sorry. Nobody was talking to me. Carry on.

*just seen video*......wow....

For some reason I just expected a demo kind of thing with no sound...but that was a whole short video with transitions and music and everything! And cool beginning logo thingy too! I've been working with a software called Carrara 3d basics for about....4 years now I think... but most of what I've ever done is played around and made short experiments trying to learn all the stuff, except for one short film I made out of a man made of marbles and another man made of die fighting each other to the death...called Marble Man vs. Dice Dude. But it was all just simple kind of stuff, nothing I've ever made as complex as a car, city or a human being!! The software I use doesn't even have a program to make such things as faces, body parts etc... but the quality rendering of it is nice.

Anyway, I wish I could post Marble Man vs. Dice Dude, but I made it on an old crappy windows computer that was originally a telemarketing office type of computer...a hand-me-down from my dad's office. No internet from there, and can't get it on a CD or anything either. But what I've been thinking I might try to do is set that computer back up again and connect it to a modem to get it hooked upon the internet (if that's possible), and upload it from there so I can save it on here. I have soooo much stuff, animated clips and artwork piled onto that computer that I cherished....

Anyway (again), I've already rendered a 3-4 second clip of just having the model of the scorpion spinning around....I have much more planned to do with it....like animate it and maybe put it into a movie to work on this summer... if you'd like to see just that for now.

I'd love to see it! Ditto for Marble Man vs. Dice Dude!

And thanks for the compliment

Yeah, that was all added right at the end to try and make up for the fact I didn't have time to animate everything (this was my final project in my school course). Yet another time being a vidder comes in handy

Well, the human was actually just a library pre-made object the program gives me , but the rest of it was all hand-splined lol. I had to make the car completely by pulling mesh over splines to get that smooth feel. So hard

Wow...that does sound hard. I don't even want to try a car (mostly because I just don't care about cars anyway ), but I'm starting to want to make a lot of very complex things...starting at the bottom with this scorpion.

Hope you likey:

Here's also a still screencap, which you can see it much better in:

nice! that looks so professional with the metal and the detail of it! I love how your editor does shadows, makes it look so much more professional. C4D's are mostly just blurry dark spots.
That's some well-done modeling right there though! Did you do it through hypernurbs and point-pulling (or whatever your equvalents to those are lol). Oooh, and how do you plan to animate this guy? I know in C4D that would be one tough thing to do, as we basically can't do much for animating unless the parts are seperate or if we ditory everything by using bones, which don't really get such a great effect in my opinion
