It was a troll (or some sort of bot thingie) who created an account here and posted a letter to her cat (or something like that) in the Contest thread. The purpose of which was so that the sig link to a gambling site or some such would be posted on the board.

I believe it was deleted but it was immortalized as one of the weirdest troll posts we've had so far...

Like "Description: CC is so cute!!11!!11!1!!!! Running Time: 32 seconds." ...I mean, what was with that? I don't get why we haven't banned him yet.

Now that Disney have found YouTube do you think they'll get rid of more than just Lost vids? They could get rid of anything to do with them...there'd be like two vids left.

Youtube's back up and I don't think any Lost vids are gone.

But, if JJ and Damon don't have any problem with it, is there anything that Disney can do about it?

It's not Youtube's fault because they say in their terms of use that it's not allowed to upload copyrighted material. Not that anybody cares about it or so

The problem is just that Youtube is getting more and more popular and thus also attracts the attention of the big companies. There was even a report about Youtube on the German TV news last night.

Technically, the show is Touchstone Television, which is part of Disney. Point is, although ABC is owned by Disney, that doesn't matter. If the show aired on ABC and Warner Bros. owned it, YouTube would say WB.

Fanvids are NOT a new occurance. Generally execs turn a blind eye to stuff like that, including fan art and fan fic, because it DOES help to promote the shows. It's basically free advertisement. If they were to attack sites like LVI or request for all videos hosted at YouTube to be removed, they would alienate a huge chunk of their audience and risk losing ratings. It's just bad business.

Aislynn is right when she mentioned that if we were getting paid to make these, it would be a different story. However since LVI itself doesn't host the vids, I feel it's pretty safe, despite the presence of google's ads.

Mine are still there so I think the immenent threat has passed. This will blow over just like everything else. Molly's vid is still there and her's has over 100,000 hits, so I wouldn't worry guys. It may have just been a random thing trying to discourage us.

Though I still say FIGHT THE POWER!! I will gladly protest outside the Disney Studios if anyone is with me. "Hell no, we won't go!!"
