Ooo! Excellent thread!
Dang, this is REALLY hard because I have really loved every season. I guess I would say:
5, 6, 3, 1, 4, 2
5 - I think I loved every episode in season five. I loved the tension of Jack and Ben trying to convince the O5 to return to the island and the uncertainty experienced by those left behind as they jumped through time and then had to adjust to 1977 Dharmaville. I loved watching Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sayid return to the island and have to make the same adjustment, but three years later, and the juxtaposition between Team Sawyer being well settled in their lives versus Team Jack being frantic to do what needed to be done to get things back on track. The interaction between them and Young Ben, and Dan seeing Young Charlotte, and Miles seeing his baby self and his parents--it was all just brilliant in my book. Also, SULIET!!! ♥♥♥
6 - To me, this season has been epic beyond epic. Although I was kind of annoyed with the length of time spent in the Temple, it was worth it for the mythological essence it introduced and which has followed. I've loved learning more about Jacob and Smokey and the island's mythology and how that all relates to our Losties. On the flip-side, I have freaking adored the X timeline because it is interesting to see these alternate reality versions of our Losties, and I love seeing them happy and ok when things have gone so wrong for them in the other timeline. It is AMAZING watching everyone merge with their island alter-egos and watching Des as sort of the ringmaster of it all. I am so utterly fascinated as the big picture comes together, and I honestly don't think there is any way this can end that I will be disappointed.
3 - I felt guilty putting three before one, because I know I should love one for being first, for being what got me hooked, and also laid the foundation for what was to come. However, when I look at the episodes I just loved way more in three than in one. I rather enjoyed the suspense of Jack/Kate/Sawyer being held captive by the Others, and learning that the Others aren't these crazy barefoot jungle dwellers, but are a rather complex community of regular people. I will never forget the reveal of that fact in the beginning of A Tale of Two Cities, with the book club and then their reaction to the plane crashing and Ben immediately sending people to plant themselves as survivors to get more information about them. I loved learning more about Ben, and then getting to know Jules and why she was there. I liked the camraderie that developed between Jack and Juliet. I loved learning to trust her but always being on the brink of totally distrusting her. Juliet quickly became a favorite character, so everything having to do with her ultimately intrigued me. It was fun watching her try to ingratiate herself among the Losties and them slowly come to accept her. I will never forget watching Flashes Before Your Eyes and feeling utterly mind-effed as we were introduced to Desmond's time-traveling consciousness, and the feeling of knowing how epically that would impact where the show was headed. I hated Charlie dying, but I have never seen a more amazing death scene. Oh, and then the total mind-eff of "we have to go baaaack". Epic.
1 - I remember seeing previews for the pilot leading up to the premiere and thinking I should check it out. I put it on while I was cleaning and I was nervous to watch because of the plane crash. What drew me in right away were the characters and the mystery of the island and how they'd fit into it. I must admit, during much of the first season I thought the show as going to be about these characters and the relationships they formed as they struggled to survive on this weird island. I had no idea how extensive the mythology would be and how deep it would run, but I was hooked and I just kept getting more hooked. The last scene in Exodus still makes me cry profusely.
4 - I actually really enjoyed season four, and it would have rated higher except that I so deeply loved the ones above it. I was fascinated by watching the lives of the O6 unfold while at the same time watching their rescue transpire. I thought that lent such an interesting contrast to their pre-rescue selves, because you sort of know what they're heading home to. I loved the drama of them returning home, and the lie, and reconnecting with their loved ones and then having to re-establish themselves under these weird circumstances after such a bizarre ordeal. It was crazy watching Jack slowly become unhinged and bringing us back around to the "we have to go baaaack" moment we caught a glimpse of at the end of season three. Then of course getting to see the actual rescue *after* we've already seen their post-rescue lives unfold. BRILLIANT! Not to mention DESPENNY REUNION!!! ♥♥♥
2 - I really didn't hate season two so I feel bad putting it last. I think overall it was the least interesting, yet it was fun watching these characters develop even more, especially in the face of going deeper into the island's history. I loved the mystery of finding out more about the D.I. and wondering how the Others fit into that. I liked meeting and learning about the tail section survivors and what they went through. I kind of like O48 Days because it was interesting to see what the crash and initial weeks were like for a different group of people. I can remember my jaw dropping when Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sawyer were captured by the Others and Ben appears and then lets Michael and Walt go home. Then, Des turning the fail safe key in the hatch, and then us finally FINALLY getting to see Penny when she gets that call about the anamoly, and knowing that she is absolutely looking for Des, and knowing we could look forward to a reunion.
GAH!
I LOVED THEM ALL!!!

1, 6, 3, 4, 5, 2
Season 1 - Total awesome-ness. Though I've loved all the other seasons and most of the new people, etc, the original 14 characters will always be my favs. I don't think I could even pick a fav epy, they are all pretty epic.
Season 6 - I really like the sideways storyline and everyone meeting up.
Season 3 - I like all the Skate & PB&J that happened this year.
Season 4 - Kinda tied with season 3, the highlight being the Despenny reunion! One of my fav moments of the entire show.
Season 5 - I liked most of it, but the time travel stuff got a little too confusing at times.
Season 2 - Again, I liked most of it, but I wasn't too into all the tailie storyline and some of the hatch stuff. Couldn't stand Ana-Lucia, and this is the only season that had 2 epys I really didn't like - Adrift & The Other 48 Days. _________________ Heather |
