I've felt like -- especially in light of the last few eps -- that the most "needy" to get off the Island are going to be in that first load out:
1. Sun who's pregnant and MUST leave if she wants both herself and her baby to live
2. Jack because he just had surgery
3. Aaron, whom I would think the Losties figure need to get off the Island more than they need to keep him on the Island while they try to find Claire
4. Kate, who's decided to watch over Aaron
5. Sayid, who's driving the boat/raft/skiff/whatever thing and is planning on coming back to ferry more people to the ship
6. Hurley... Hm, I'm not sure why he or the other Losties would've thought he needed to get off the Island in that first group, unless something's going to happen to him to make him a priority.
There's still a lot we don't know about the flashforwards, why, for instance they're populating the lie that so few of them survived the crash and only the 6 of them are still alive, etc. I think Kate putting forth the notion that Aaron is her biological son is part of that. Or, if not, then it seems to me like she's not so much trying to replace Claire and make him forget about her, but is just trying to be a good adoptive mom. After all, he's so young he wouldn't be able to remember Claire if he hadn't seen her since he was an infant and it would be kinda cruel of Kate to not let him call her mom or to correct him, "No, remember, Aaron, I'm NOT your mom. Don't call me that." He wouldn't be able to understand and would think she was rejecting him.
Anyway, I could be proven completely wrong on everybody's motives and I really DO hope that by the end of the show we see Claire get off the Island and be reunited with Aaron! *fingers crossed* But it seems to me that, for whatever the reason that Claire isn't there at the time of these flashforwards, that Kate is just trying to give Aaron a good home and take responsibility for him rather than just toss him into foster care or some such. Only my opinion, of course.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it's all going to work out! |
