I'm wanting to add a logo to someone's shirt in a clip, and I haven't got a clue how to do this, or even if it's possible. Can anyone help? Please, if you know how or are willing to take it on for me, let me know as soon as possible. Thanks ahead of time!

Just about the only way you can do that in WMM is by using a still pic or screen cap of the scene in question and adding the logo that way. It won't be the same as somebody walking around with a logo on their shirt but you can use WMM's Ease In or Out effect to try and get some "motion" to the scene anyway...

Sorry, I'm not much help because I don't have any of my video or photo editing programs on my computer right now. But anybody who has a photo editor like Photoshop or Paintshop can create the altered pic. It would take a bigger video editor like Vegas to alter the moving clip.

Good luck!

What about...is there a way to save a specific clip and then change it's format to .avi? I know that you'd need a separate program to do it, but once I have it in .avi format, then I can just open the whole clip in Paint Shop Pro animation shop, save the individual frames, and then put the logo on the shirt in each separate frame, create a new animation, and then use that clip in WMM. Sounds like a pain and I know it will be, but is there a way with WMM (I don't have WMMv2) to save one clip as it's own little file so that I can try this? Also, if that's possible, is there a certain program for changing the format of the file that you would suggest? I'd just try the Ease In/Out method, but I don't have effects on WMM, and I'm terrified to download service pack 2 (last time I did, my internet refused to connect and my Dell technician made me reformat my hard drive completely) and I know that without service pack 2, I can't get the newer WMM

Hobbes has done something like this in one of his early WMM vids, I believe, so let's see if we can't catch his attention...

*clears throat*

Ahem.

WARREN!!!!!!!

All, kidding aside, mistojen, I totally understand your reluctance to add the SP2, especially since it's caused you such major problems before! As an alternative to WMM, I can suggest Sony Vegas Movie Studio, which is the "stripped down" version of Sony Vegas. Movie Studio is a LOT cheaper than Vegas but does the same basic things, editing-wise. (I got mine with a rebate that made it $10 but the usual price is about $70 -- the full version of Vegas is several hundred dollars... )

Anyway, not trying to sell you a new product, I just wanted to let you know the non-WMM options while we're waiting for Warren...

LOL that actually worked you know I wouldn't have noticed this if it wasn't for the big "WARREN!"

Well, the thing is.... I used Vegas to do that particular conversion to MPEG The rest of Horoscope for Today was completely done in WMM, but as for conveting clips, I used Vegas. However, there must be some free online WMV to MPEG converters... I know there are some for every other file format You sometimes just have to sift through a lot of them until you find one that works without leaving a watermark or not letting you render without registering or somethign :roil: it could take you a while, but here's a good place to start: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=WMV+to+MPEG+converter&sp=1&fr2=sp-top&ei=UTF-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&fr=moz2&ei=UTF-8&SpellState=n-3332759119_q-E49UdAhjhCYJ.G3awl5F0QABAA%40%40

Once you have that, then you simply put that MPEG file into Jasc Animation Shop Pro (a freeware program you may or may not have already) which then lets you save the frames in one batch to some folder. Once there, it's just a matter of patience and perserverence as you edit each frame in your image program then put them all back in the Animation Pro (or WMM for a more-precise placement, which I bet you're gonna want to have), render to GIF or WMV (whichever one you put it in) and then import that little clip into your vid!

A note of warning: If this clip has a lot of action/movement in it, make sure you don't get lazy and only take a few frames, or you're goign to get a very jumpy image. This was intentional in the whole Dinosaur scene of Horoscope for Today, but parts of that weren't so watch out!

Good luck with this btw! It's a lot of work for a vid, so make sure the rest of the vid is top-notch too!

(Wait a sec... why is the Animation Queen asking me about this? )

An actual, you know, PM with a link to this topic was next. I just thought I'd see if that worked first...

Awwwww, I love it when I get to be royalty!

Anyway, I have Animation Shop 3, which actually can't do any of that. I tried it when I asked you about it waaaaaaaaay back when and AS3 can't import MPEG. So that's why all of my stuff had to be total frame-by-frame still pic animations. And hence, why I couldn't remember all of the exact steps in doing this proceedure and needed Sir Hobbes to ride to my rescue.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure that the rest of the vid is top notch, per se, but then again, it's also the first time I'm trying to incorporate audio that isn't a song, so...it's more of an experiment than anything else. The only reason I'd put that much work into it at all is because basically if the logo isn't on the shirt, the whole vid makes NO sense. Thank you guys so much for all your help! I'm really going to miss making vids, especially since this one is only my third one that'll be finished All of my Lost episodes were corrupted with a virus of some kind and I had to delete them and I'm not patient enough to go looking for single clips all over. Boo...

Thanks for the suggestion about Vegas. I've heard it's fantastic and I really would love to try it, but as I'm on my own for the first time in this 'great big world,' I'm kind of scrounging for change to eat some days, so I haven't got the money to get a paid program and WMM was already on my comp. I just want to let you guys know...Aislynn and Hobbes, that is, that the How-To Vids and the thread Aislynn posted with tutorials for WMM are the reason I even bothered TRYING vidding. It's been fun and thanks SO much!

Oh, I'm SO sorry to hear about you losing your Lost eps! I hope you'll be able to get them back in some way, some day! I hate to think that you'll never get to vid again because of some mean ol' virus! (Grrrr... a pox upon all virus-making bad guys! )

You're not nearly as sorry as my friend Brian is...the poor guy had only gotten as far as watching Fire + Water, and he's pissed he can't finish the season because he's so addicted to it lol. I tried downloading The Long Con from a different place, thinking that perhaps it'd work that way, and I even put it in a different folder. I'm now under the impression that my computer has decided it's effing sick of me having Lost on it, since I just keep showing the show to new people as often as possible. This laptop said, "eff you, Jen, and eff Lost. I'm done." The new file didn't work either, giving me the same error as the other eps Maybe someday I will be able to save up some money and get CDs to store them on, and I'll download a program to rip my DVDs and just hope that I can wait until the Season 2 box set comes out. Here's hoping, because I REALLY had fun vidding while I could.

You're so welcome...I had to say it, because I'm positive that there's NO way in the world the two of you are getting enough thanks for those things. I stumbled onto this page one day, and decided, "I bet I could do that, too, with a little work..." but I didn't even START until I'd seen Hobbes's videos...and then I moved on to your tutorial to walk me through putting together my first vid, Slow. It wasn't great, and it didn't get a whole lot of feedback, but I had fun doing it, anyway So thanks again for all your help in this situation as well as what I previously mentioned. Believe me, I won't be gone long if I can help it--and Lost Video Island is in the top spot in my favorite places. I check it nearly as often as I check my email

That's so rough damn viruses It's just not fair that a determined vidder such as yourself can be plauged by those things at such a priome time. Not fair at all.

Thank you SO much. Actually, I just bought a new CD from a local band in Indianapolis and I got the greatest vid idea from one of their songs, so I got their permission to rip the CD and their blessing to make the vid, and, dammit, I'm going to try. I'm really hurting for clips, but I'm searching EVERYWHERE to find what I need. Cross your fingers for me and thanks for the vote of confidence in my potential!
