I've been working on this video for what seems like my whole life (but may actually only be a couple of weeks). Anyhoo, I've been saving it as a movie file and importing that into it as I go along to make WMM freeze less but now, just as I've finished it, it's telling me that I can't save it because the original source files aren't where they should be or something. I did delete a load of files that I knew I wasn't using and didn't need, just to free up some memory but when that message came up, I reinstated them, just in case. But that hasn't done anything Does anyone else know what else I can try? _________________

oh man Freya that sucks! You know I don't know enough about this kind of stuff to have any suggestions but I'd think that since you didn't deleted the clips it should still work! Did you try restarting your computer? Maybe it just didn't recognize that the clips were back? I'll ask my husband if he has any suggestions b/c he does stuff like this at work all day.

Hopefully restarting your computer helped! If not, then hopefully you have all of the saved pieces you've made along the way and you can rebuild the vid again with them and only have a little you actually have to revid.
It may be that the pathway on one or some of the clips isn't exactly the way it was if the entire file folder was deleted. Or the name on the folder may have been slightly changed. Argh, it just sucks when that happens! Hope one way or another you can get your vid done at last!

Hey Freya,
I asked my husband and he said pretty much the same thing Ais said...so I hope you figure something out!

Woot, I got it right, yay!
Ahem. Sorry, that doesn't help you any, Freya, though. I know back when I first started vidding, I got the bright idea to move one of my file folders that had some clips in it and of course, WMM couldn't find them when I tried to open the project. I fortunately hadn't deleted the folder and I remembered which folder it had been inside of, so I was able to just move it back and it worked okay. But if you've deleted it and don't remember the exact name and exact pathway, then WMM won't ever recognize it again. Just leaving off one letter would make a big difference, unfortunately.
Just so you know that I've done something similar in the past and it's very easy to do. Hope you're able to rebuild your vid one way or another! |

I have had this problem repeatedly!!! i found that the best thing to do was to cut the vid in half and save it as two separate vids; then import them both again and save them as one takes awhile but at least I stayed sane, lol _________________

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I tried restarting and all that jazz but it didn't work. I've got about 75% saved as one file already but this kinda bums me out cause I was way proud of my little "confrontation scene". I don't get it though. I've had WMM lose files before but this is different. I can still play it through and I can see that all the files are there and play properly but it won't save. Hmm.. oddness. Anyhoo, thanks for the tips. It looks like I'll have to do that last bit again. Ah well.. at least most of it's saved. _________________

This has literally just happened to me after the past couple of days - I still haven't worked a way around it..
Captain Freya, how did you get around it..did you revid or did something else work? |
