Now you can watch my crappy work of animation. One of three clips I need to turn in for my 3d portfolio.

LMAO genius Rock beats scissors! Duh!
How long did this one take ya? That was some fairly detailed movement among those scissors, especially to be done in that Animation Master program you've been using, which I bet isn't so kind about movement as some other 3d programs.
I'm starting my animation class btw, and am just finishing the modeling portion of my first project. I've also got some serious animation I need to show you at some point as soon as I decide what to do with my latest video but that'll have to wait just a bit longer unfortunately.
Nice animation lol |

It took me one day to model everything, which is a major feat for me because I've never been gutsy enough until then to actually try and model something that split into two connected parts, like the handles. The animation took two days, mainly because of the damn walk cycles, which I hated trying to get through most of the time. I don't think Animation Master is bad with animation. Certainly better than that Cinema 4d program you have from what I've heard of your complaints. In fact I'm starting to really appreciate what I could do with it.
I can't wait to see some more of your animation! And thanks for the compliments! _________________

Nice! That's very fast indeed I'll bet it is better than my crappy program lol. I thought maybe not so much with multiple objects, but if you can get all that done in a matter of 3 days, that's not bad at all. Mine's already taken me 8 hours and I'm still modeling (though to be fair, it's a lot more complicated ) |

I am a real big dumb at animation, so I can't say any profecional review on it *sorry*.... but as a watcher I think that was great, 'cause I understand how many time it must have been took , to modelling all that, to made scissors actually moving...I think animation is a real big challenge though, 'cause I was having today some computer lessons at my university (we just start with Photoshop ), and our teacher showed us some 3d animation projects from previous students who studing at specialization "informatics"...they were 30 seconds long, all modelling and objects moving were really great, and she said it took this students to made such project 3 months ...30 seconds in 3 months, it must be really hard to do than
Do you planning to work more with animation DS ? 'cause you even can using your 3d creatings in fan vids ...I have on my laptop Macromedia Flash 8 programm and Ulead 3d programm..but every time I opening them, I starting understand that I can't figured out how this all animation actually could be done ...and I think I will never be able to understand that, editing is totally a more simple process _________________

*applause* I loved that! Man, that must be so much fun to be able to create something basically from scratch then see it walking around like that! *more applause*
(Oh, and sorry I didn't get here to comment earlier, BTW... ) |

Don't have to apologize, anybody who's not 'in the know' can still let the creator know how they enjoyed it! Thanks a lot for your comments.

3 months?? Wow. I know of a famous animator who created a really popular 7-minute short that took 3 years to produce.... and 2 months to render!

Of course! I've still got the rest of my animation class, plus the fact that I'm obsessed with my animation software and am thinking about making a CGI Lost parody (the cast as animals and such). In fact right now I'm working on a dancing stick figure that I'll probably post soon.

More or less fun, but trying to animate the scissors walking right, rotating back and forth going forwards, and not going under or over the ground inbetween really gave me a headache and sometimes I just hated the process..... but yeah, in the end it's all worth it. I'm just learning still.
Thanks you guys!! *virtual hug* _________________

well, our teacher also said this students right now already working for computer games 3d animation ...and about rendering..yes I was really stressed..she said they spent on it 3 days I really can't imagine that, I always stressed when my Vegas rendering vid for 40 minutes - 4 minute music vid ...but 3 DAYS, and even 2 MONTHS ...I just wondering how computer could work for 2 month, without stop !
And I would love to see your future vids _________________

A few years ago I made about a 2-minute short movie that took more than all summer (as initially planned) to make, and a little less than a week non-stop of rendering. It never rendered the important ending though because of some error. I was really angry about that. I wish I could show it on the internet but unfortunately I made it on an old computer that was originally intended only to work for mundane office purposes (a handmedown computer), and now I don't even have the computer. But anyway, rendering for a long time isn't really that big of a deal if your computer can take it and you just leave it alone for a while... it was a good noise machine at night. _________________

lol I can believe that . My Ferrari project took 15 computers about 2 hours to render, each doing like... 30 frames? It was crazy.

I don't think they do it in one chunk lol. they probably render it into tons of little chunks of footage, then combine them all in a movie editing program (since that render would take a LOT less time the footage being 2d instead of 3d now lol )
Hey DS, have you used lights and such at all yet? |

Oh yeah, definitely. You can see some use of lighting in my scissors short. Today I played around with particles, making snow and such. Oh yeah and I can turn volumetrics on in a light so that it's kind of hazy or foggy, which is absolutely great for stage/theatrical lighting. Without setting up some different lighting myself, I can't see how anything I make would turn out looking interesting. Lighting makes a world of difference. _________________
