Quote: | But, my god! I felt like someone had robbed my soul of all happiness after the remake. It's a soul sucker! It's a dementor! Seriously. It sucked. My. Soul. Think about that for a moment, people. |
Totally! And it wasn't so much the movie that did it, so much as all the people who liked it better than the original I'm an old man whining about the good old days, and I'm only 16 (well 17 soon... )
Btw KC, my good friend agrees with me, so we have at least one more snatched from the dark side. |

I voted for the original of course, the remake just didn't do anything for me. Actually, I thought the remake was a huge waste of time. I mean I just think that it didn't even need to be remade IMO. Pretty soon there will be remakes of the original "The Wizard Of Oz" or "Sound Of Music" or even "Grease". lol.
To me I think the first was perfect and there was/is just no way you could make it any better. Plus I didn't like Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. He made him too weird and unlikable and......did I say weird already?
So yeah, not a fan of the remake at all. Sorry! _________________

I dare not try to watch either of them! Why? Because when I was but a cute li'l Mini-Aislynn, I tried to watch the original. My TV went dead in the middle of it. Years later as a still-cute-but-not-as-li'l Aislynn, I tried to watch it again. That TV ALSO broke in the middle of the movie! I do no lie!
For fear of my current TV's life, I dare not watch ANY form or version of this movie EVER. It's like my own personal Ring movie or something...
"Watch this movie and in 7 minutes...your TV...will DIEEEEEEE!!!!!"
I fear I've risked too much even reading this thread! *runs and hugs TV* Don't die, old friend! Don't die!
Despite the melodrama there, that really [b]is[/i] true! I've had 2 different TVs go out while watching that same movie many years apart!

Picture it:
Aislynn returns home from the theatres, tries to flip on the light switch but all the lights are dead.
Aislynn: "Hm, this is strange... And now a storm's come up outside. Weird. And where's that creepy incidental music coming from?"
*walks into the living room*
Aislynn: "Well, I think I'll just turn on the TV and watch "Confidence Man" for the 100th time..."
She stops, seeing the living room all wrecked like it's been hit by a tornado.
Aislynn: "Dang, I've got to clean up around here every once and a while!"
*grabs remote, hits the power button*
*nothing happens*
*more lightning, incidental music gets louder*
Aislynn: "Okay, enough with the incidental music!"
The TV suddenly crackles and a strange figure starts crawling out of the screen. It's -- Johnny Depp, dressed half like Willy Wonka and half like Captain Jack Sparrow.
JD: (creepy, high-pitched voice) "You though you were safe to watch it at the theater, didn't you? No, the Curse still struck down your precious TV! Mwaaaa-ha-ha!!!!!"
Aislynn: (ear-shattering shriek) "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
JD: "Holy guacamole, lady! Are you trying to break my eardrums or are you just auditioning for the lead in "Ringwraiths! -- The Musical"? And hey, where did all the rum go?"
THE END
Oy. I think I'm a frustrated screenwriter... |
