I went to turn up the aduio of a clip and got the following error message:

'The Plug-in could not run one or more components required to run, this plug-in may be missing. If hardware key (dongle) is required to operate this plug-in ensure that this is properly installed. The COM object faild to initiate.'

I've never gotten this message before. What do I need to do to fix this problem? Have I hit something or deleted something?

Did you try to use the clip again?

Or what what about converting it? Maybe it's the clip?

I left Sony Vegas and came back to it later on and it was still giving me the message on that clip. Originally the clip was an AVI that I converted to WMV.I'll try converting it again and see if the message goes away.

I also tried using a different audio effect than volume, and I still got the same error message.

I did a Google search and I see that quite a few people have had that issue. It looks like most of the people had to reinstall Vegas but I see in this one forum here (scroll down quite a ways) that one person suggests a way to repair Vegas. If you have the original installation disc, you could also try inserting that if you can't find the file that post mentions and sometimes it will offer a repair/maintenance sort of option.

I've never tried that myself, though, so do be careful. I definitely don't want to tell you to do something that would mess up your project or accidentally uninstall Vegas when you didn't mean for it to! But it's some place to look if you can't find anything else, since it's not really much of an option to just leave an important part of Vegas not working like that either.

Hope something gets it working for you again! *fingers crossed* ♥!

I did a quick reinstall of the program and I've got the volume working again. I was able to keep from losing the project I am working on.I just had to go to file and open, select the project file, and it fell into place on the video/audio tracks just like it was supposed to be.

I'm hoping this reinstall might also get rid of some of the other little kinks I've been noticing with the program.

While wandering around the installaion disc, I even found some extra content/title cards/sound effects/etc I hadn't realized were on the disc.Probably would not have realized I had them if I hadn't reinstalled the program.

Thanks for the help.
