# "Part 1 - The Montage" 2005-02-02
Hobbes shows you what NOT to do in this educational video.
# Song: Montage by Team America: World Police OST
Vidder: Warren (Hobbes)
Length: 2:19 (8.6MB WMV)

This video is PURELY for helping vidders improve. It may be harsh, and offend some people, but it's what they call "tough love" Without bringing yourself up to the levels described in this video, you will have a tough time in the vidding world, with so many incredibly talented people here

The Training video is up for discussion! If you want the manuscripts of what's said there (as it DOES go by pretty fast ) then here you go:
Quote: |
Quality #1
"A montage is a nickname created by me for a video that has NO connection to the song. It merely plays random clips in a line with few interesting qualities like effects, or cuts to the beat of the music. There are few clips used, and often they span over 15 seconds at a time, (NEVER a good thing, even on slow songs). SOMETIMES the song choice reflects the clips, (e.g. the title of the song "Montage" reflects the video, which talks about montages) but otherwise, no simillarities are noticable. This all shows that the vidder didn't work hard on their video, making it unfit for the site."
Quality # 2
"As you may notice, this form of music video is a HUGE improvement from the regular montage. The clips are placed at the right timing of the song, and even some minor effects are used to give it a professional feel. The only thing that seperates this type of video from a 3 or 4 quality is the fact that the clips have no MEANING for being there in the song. There is no connection between the lyrics and the clips, nor is there a story being told in the clips. These are randomly-chosen clips of Charlie and Claire to a beat. No artistic ability is yet portrayed. " |
It's kinda tough to accurately outline what we want in these, or rather, what we don't want, but the videos in the video pretty-much sum-up what those levels of quality look like (the examples that is) Don't be offended if it happens to describe your video either. There's nothing at all to be ashamed of, you just need to know that there's a bit more that we're asking for. Granted, it's hard work making a music video, especially putting that extra work in, but in the end it's all really worth it! |

Feel free to! Very soon after these went up, we almost completely stopped getting those types of videos in. Either we scared off all of them, or they stepped up their game Either way, that's why we keep boasting how our vidders are the best |
