I am don't edit to the beats very well.

And when I try to use 'dissolve' (kind of like a slight flash if you don't know the feature).

I cant' get the dissolve matching to my beats, instead if just goes in different positions and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have seen people use them really well.

when I do it I get 'sharp cuts' and it looks choppy and bad.

I am trying to do a video to a faster song with a lot of very clear beats, but the dissolve just doesn't want to work with it. IT doesn't dissolve to the splits I make.

Are you watching it on the Vegas screen when you have your project open? If so; that's not an accurate view of how your vid looks. Render a copy and then see, if it still looks choppy then I'd suggest looking at Heathers Beat Use tutorial; it has great ways to use the beat without having to use fancy effects

I am just not good with the dissolve. It doens't do it on the beat I want it to even though I have all the splits in the right places. It's hard to explain.

hmm; it seems like a length thing of the dissolves. you can drag either side of the dissolves in so they are shorter and tighter on the beat, if you know what I mean. Also; it really helps if you zoom in on the project, which you can do by just opening your project and hitting the up arrow, that way you can move the dissolves closer on to the beat

I believe it works the same as with all of the Vegas' Pro and Movie Studio alike: Hold CTRL and then drag the end of the clip to the right to slow it down or to the left to speed it up.
