Yeah, that tends to bother me too. For fanfic and vids alike, I prefer the characters to actually stay 'in character'. Sure, there are exceptions, but this is kind of a big exception. So, as I said,it strikes me as strange, and I prefer the other vids. Then again, if it's humor,it doesn't bother me. You're allowed to be out of character or exaggerate characteristics in those.
Even if it were a minor character, say Ethan or just some random character they mention was gay or bi, it woudl make more sense...but it's really been nothing, huh? I mean, Ana joked around with Sawyer, and Shannon has thrown some slurs at Boone, but nothing solid.
Btw, I stopped trying to figure out Tom's comment after a while as well. It's just impossible to be sure, and it doesn't really matter to me either way.
Trey: Yeah, I don't want a man-making out fb either. Id' prefer it to be a more minor character that's just there. _________________

Well... the thing is... well, the song is kinda talking about them being guys and loving each other but NOT being gay (because Turk and JD aren't gay on the show, their just REALLY good friends...)
So it'll probably lean more towards a friendship kind of thing than a slash thing now that I think about it.
So, Sawyer and Hurley is out because there was recently a (really awesome) friendship vid about them.
Sawyer and Sayid was just done by thefilmchick, by the way, great job.
Sawyer and Jack is feeling kind of jaded...
But I still want Sawyer....

Sawyer and Michael!!! I didn't even think of that!! Turk is black!! What do you think? Is that okay? Or does everyone hate Mike too much to like the vid?

Uh...I really don't like Michael at all, and almost never find vids about him interesting (aside from 'Not Listening'). And seeing as Sawyer probably doesn't have many tender or friendly feelings abotu him anymore, it may not turn out as well anyway. I think you'd probably have better footage for Hurley and Sawyer or Jack and Sawyer anyway...or Sawyer and Sayid? lol But obviously, it's your choice. Anyway, I think this will turn out really cute if it leans more towards friendship.
Can't wait for the Shawshank one either! (Hey, you can probably have that in the contest too, huh? As long as you have no footage from the movie in it.) _________________

But that one's not slashy. Ahem. Or, at least, I tried not to have it be slash. But I won't say it didn't turn out at least halfway down that road.
I still wouldn't mind seeing another video with those two in it, so long as the song was on-point and not, like, some sort of ballad.

Agreed, and not just saying that due to my biases. There's a lot of Jawyer vids out there as it is, from what I can tell.

I don't think it should be race-based, but there is a friendship there, and I think Sawyer, who never had a dad, respected Mike (before he screwed them over and turned traitor) for being a father to Walt, for trying to be a good father to Walt, and for gradually improving. It seemed to me that Sawyer kind of looked up to Michael, and Michael never seemed too dead-set against Sawyer (like, say, Jack or someone) to me.

Yeah, I agree about their friendship at the end of season 1- middle of season 2. The fact that Michael wasn't willing to leave him behind when he collapsed I think speaks volumes. I think the friendship between the entire raft crew was pretty cool, and the Sawyer/Jin relationship remains I think.

I just looked at the rules for the contest and they encourage not doing a trailer... and I think I need to use clips from the trailer because there aren't scenes from LOST to fit certain scenes in the trailer (say, the courtroom trial in the beginning for instance...)

Sorry, would have been remiss not to mention it.
I still think what S2 did to Michael was pretty crappy, considering that, before then, he was one of the more levelheaded characters (and I was disappointed we didn't get to see him be much use, since he seemed to have a fairly broad range of skills).
Other characters have gotten character-assassinated, mind you, and I liked the idea of Mike playing both sides against the middle, but in the end, it sort of felt like a cheap ploy to me, and we never got to see a redemption arc from him. (Brief anticipatory comment follows, not really a spoiler.)

Although, if rumor is correct and he will be back in S4, we might get to see that. Please don't confirm/deny though, as I am as spoiler-free as possible. Thanks!
But anyway, yeah, I think that might be an interesting video, and certainly something different than Jack/Sawyer/who cares or something played-out like that. If you want a suggestion, not knowing the song: Work in clips of Mike's relationship with Walt, and of Sawyer as a kid/being informed that he too is a father by Cassidy, and you'd have a real emotional resonance there, I think. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. YAY! A Sony Vegas vid from Kate! You make great use of WMM, so I can't wait! And Alex and Karl? Creative. I usually don't vid for very minor character. The least I did was Ethan I think...and that was hard to work with.
After my 'Crashing Down' vid, I'm making a Charlie POV PB&J vid to the song 'Guardian Angel'...that's my plan at least. I always get new ideas, but sometimes have the right clips for a different one, so yeah. _________________

Still working on my Skate AU - Crashing Down, and it's come out pretty well so far. Kat is being my beta, and she's given me a few awesome ideas, as well as a really cool one involving the dialogue near the beginning. anyway...if you're reading, THANKS again Kat! YAY! *happy dance* My 'Crashing Down' vid is done! I submitted it, so it shoudl be up to watch soon! I'd love all the comments and 'votes' I can get. This is my very first completely AU vid with manipped scenes etc.
THANKS KAT AND AIS! *hug* Mentioned you two at the end.
Next, I think I will work on 'Your Guardian Angel' a vid about the main couples on Lost. Mainly Skate, Chaire, Shayid, and some Jate (see? It can be for everyone!) tho I may add a tiny sprinkling of other ships for the fun of it. *cough*Conmama blanket scene*cough* The lyrics jsut work so beautifully for many of the ships. xD I'm going to have lots of fun with this one, and all the vids I've done have been angsty! I need a fluffier one. Well, it's mostly fluffy. The song/vid is basically about how the men of Lost love their women so much, they'd do anything to keep them safe. _________________
