Showdown

It's Intense.

Tournament Rules

The judges for this tournament have been determined by the council as anyone with 1 or more videos with a Council Pick seal. This is a precaution to ensure we only get people who know what quality to look for in a video, as they are superb vidders themselves.

If you have a video with a Council Pick seal, or just recently got one, and still can't vote, please sign up in the forums and post in the Missing Vidder topic, giving your name and the name of your video with a Council Pick. We'll then add you to the list so you can vote as soon as possible. We tried to find all the vidders who had Council Picks, but we weren't able to find them all, so don't hesitate to ask us to add you.

These rules are for all eligible voters who wish to participate in the contest. We ask that you please read them carefully to ensure a good competition.

1. Be Fair

Whatever you do, keep in mind that this is a legitimate tournament, filled with tough decisions and deserving videos. If you are picked as a judge for this event, you have a responsibility to help choose the best video on the site. This should not be swayed by things the vidder can't really help, such as video quality, your preference of song, or their choice of hosting. So, when voting, try not to let the following affect you:

  • Song Choice
  • Picture quality - if it's grainy, that's not necesarilly the vidder's fault. This does not make a video better OR worse.
  • Video's Hosting - Rapidshare, Angelfire, etc.
  • Type of Video (Comedy/Angst, etc.) - Try to pick the one that is better made, not just cuter or fitting to the mood you're in.
  • Couple - Just because you hate C/C DOESN'T mean you can base your vote on that. Be fair.
  • Character - Like the last one.
  • Other People's Opinions
  • Etc.

ALWAYS watch all entires in a poll before voting. This is NOT a competition of which video you remember best.

2. No Cheating!

Well, this one goes without saying! Specifically, don't create pacts with other people to vote for their video if they vote for yours. This isn't a popularity contest, and there is no prize for first place, just honor. So treat this honorably, without cheating.

It's necessary to say that this contest does let you vote for yourself if you want to, but if you don't think you can stand the shame, then by all means, don't vote for yourself! We won't penalize you if you do though.

3. Vote Often, Vote Well

If you see that one voting topic has practically no votes, while another has 20, then please try to spread out that number and vote for the lower one first. You may vote on as many topics as you want before the week is up, and we encourage you to vote on all of them if you want this contest to be a success!

4. Specifics:

When voting, ALWAYS watch all videos in the poll before voting, it's only fair. Once you've seen both videos, you can cast your vote. if you can not view one or more of the videos in the topic, skip that topic and vote on another one, and report your problem in the Tournament Help topic, giving the link(s) that don't work. IF A VIDEO'S LINK DOESN'T WORK, THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN VOTE FOR THE OTHER VIDEO.

5. Have Fun!

While this may be an intense tournament, the goal is still to have fun! You may talk about the tournament in the Tournament Talk topic (keep in mind not to tell others your votes, in case you sway them). And if you see a video you never saw before and really liked it, please post a comment in the video's topic, the vidder would really appreciate it. A nice comment can often mean more than any award.

Enjoy yourself as we celebrate one year of Lost Music Videos on Lost Video Island! Congratulations to all nominees, and good luck!
