4.0 is comming along very nicely. I was trying a few things for a new site banner and thought, hey, we have tons of talenteted graphic designers around here just waiting around for 4.0, why not let them have a shot at it? I've seen some very awesome work in the Fan Art section and I am sure you can think up something cool for this.

So here's the challenge:
1. This banner will be on the top of EVERY PAGE of LVI!

2. It should say something like LVI, Lost Video Island, maybe include 4.0... I dont' care. Just something that identifies the site.

3. You must start with this image:

4. Overlay as little or as much as you want over that image but DO NOT: change the size and you must leave the right side (were the sky is) blue.

5. I suggest you put the text on the left side of the image since it will be left-aligned on the page.

Post a link to your finished banner here and the coucil just might pick YOURS to be the official LVI banner! Good luck.

fine print: if your banner is chosen it becomes property of LVI and we can use it however we wish. or something like that. lol.

1. We have to use that picture?
2. The text should be on the right?
3. The right has to stay blue?

Ok here are the 3 that i have created so far.... 1 isnt using the pic, but it sux neways....

Im still working on more... But I would still like to know if we have to use that pic?

oh shit! Those are all so awesome and yet I don't think any of them will work...

I really should have explained this better before....

basically the blue sky on the right of the image needs to stay *exactly* that shade of blue (at least right near the edge) since the banner will be left-aligned in a <div> where the color underneath it will be that exact shade of blue. So that when the pages are displayed on a really wide monitor you won't be able to tell where the image ends and the blue background begins... does that even make sense?

Please let me know if that made sense! ...and maybe adjust your images accordingly if you can... because again I really love all of those!

oh, and yes you should keep at least some of that image visible since we'd like the site to look somewhat familar...

I suggest loading it up in photoshop and going crazy by adding new layers - just don't make any changes to the right hand side where the sky fades to that single shade of blue.
