Maybe you could do a tutorial on the spilt screen effect? I have seen so many versions of how to do it, but your ways seem to be simpler for simpletons like myself

Oh yes! I need to know how to do that too! I tried it before, but couldn't find a way to actually make it work.

Hey there Steph! Awesome tutorials. They come in handy
Since I'm new to Vegas... sort of.. I really don't know how to render my files so they're small .. instead of big ass file sizes. Right now I'm working on a vid... its only 20 sec. done and it's already 80mb .. So I was wondering if you could get a tut up on how to render your videos
Anyways... Keep up the good work

Good Lord, Harry! *falls over with a thud* What in the world are you using for your settings? I always use 512 WMV with Vegas and that usually renders a nice quality with little compression loss. I've seen other people get a full vid for about 50MB at the 1mbps setting (which gives ridiculously good quality ). You've got to be on AVI or something... Uncompressed AVI takes up an insane amount of MBs.

Sorry, Steph, I know he's asking you so I won't go into details or anything on what I'd try.

*moving along*

Thanks Ais, I'll try that once I'm done rendering it this way again... damn thing

EDIT - okay did it the way you told me to and worked out good.. it's now like 2mb instead of 80 thanks ....
I'd still like to see a tutorial from you Steph though... maybe like different ways? ... I think the 512 wmv one is going to make my overall vid like 15 mb... but how would I make it.... say 50mb?

No no, that's cool Ais. If it helps people, then no reason not to speak up. I can still do the tutorial, but that helps a lot. I think the best thing someone can do is just take a clip and render in each setting until they find the one that suits them best. I still don't know which one I like.

Just in case anyone is wondering or has ever wondered why AVI is so big and the others (mpeg, divx, ect.) are smaller in file size, it's because AVI is raw uncompressed video and the others are compression. Obviously compression is a major space saver.

Sorry, I had two years Computer Science...lol

Thanks for the tutorial! But I have a problem

I get to the bit where you have to move the box to the right and I can move the box but the video footage doesn't move. Not sure where i'm going wrong

Make sure you're not clicking and holding the box in the center where the 'x' & 'y' are or it will just move the viewing panel and not the clip. Click and hold one of the botom corners just to be safe. I had this problem too.

I'm gonna check just to be sure...
