Are there any plans to clean up the song/artist listings on the front page?

A couple examples I found in the artists area:

Enrique Iglesias is also listed as 'Enrique Iglesius' (sic.)

Elvis
Elvis Costello
Elvis Presley

... everyone knows the right answer there is Elvis Costello, but shouldn't the 'Elvis' be taken out?

Jordin Sparks (God help me for knowing the spelling of her name) is also listed as Jordan Sparks.

The song names are even more discombobulated. I know this is a massive undertaking and hardly expect it to be fixed in a week, but it is really awkward when you're checking for songs that've already been done.

having mild OCD, that's something that's always quite annoyed me...If extra help was needed I wouldn't mind going through the artists and songs for typos and such although I guess it's a council matter.

I wouldn't mind putting my money where my mouth was, either. I am an ex-copyeditor amongst other things, so I've got an eye for that sort of thing, anyway.

You might be surprised at how many people Do Not Appreciate their submissions being "changed" in that way,

which I'd imagine is the reason that the original Council always let whatever spelling/misspelling of the artist/band name and song stand.

However, that's something that bugs us, too, and we'll see about doing a clean-up on that in the future.

Thanks muchly for the offers of help but that's something that requires CM powers to do. In the meanwhile, all you can do is what you're already doing: checking the multiple spellings of songs and artists when you're looking through the database to see if a particular one has already been used. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Putting my $0.02 in the suggestion box again.

At the moment, from what I can tell, the forums have no direct link to the main page of LVI, thus making me type in the address. Could 'Lost Video Island,' up above, be turned into a hyperlink to the top-level page, so as to have it linked at all times?

Also, don't know if you've noticed but the Song and Artist info has been greatly decluttered, which turned out to be a tremendously huge job that took the whole Council several months to complete (and is immediately undone every time a misspelling/alternate name/etc. gets by us

). However, it's still in a lot better shape now than it was several months ago.

Thanks for such an undertaking! I hadn't noticed but will give it a look-see tomorrow. Much appreciated that y'all went to the trouble of sorting it out; I know I've had moments of, 'Wait, I looked and that hadn't been done... oh wait, they just didn't spell the artist right/use the actual song title/whatever,' and figured I wasn't the only one, so...
