Lost Video Island

I wanted to get a feel for how the public would feel about a change I've been thinking about for a while.

It goes like this:

What if the Download link you see under every vid on the main site linked to the vid's thread here on the boads which contained whatever means to obtain the video. True, the site would become more of an index than an archive. It would trade the instant gratification aspect in order to boost the comunity aspect. This would also force visiters to read comments about the vid and maybe register to leave their own comments as well incrasing the amount of feedback.

But what do you think?

l think that makes alot of sence. lt would get more people on here and well for one thing there would diffenately be more vids popping in and not to mention alot more comments and feedback to the videos and the vidders, so yeah l think it's a hell-of-a-great idea.

I voted yes because I think that anything that brings people to the forums where they'll hopefully post something nice about the vid they just watched (or at least not something completely childish and ugly -- I'm counting on the mods to keep that in check

I hate to mention this, but I didn't realize the forums were here for a while (never said I was the brightest bulb in the bunch!

) I was used to just coming to LVI, checking for new vids, then either starting it downloading if there was or moving on if there wasn't. One day I just happened to glance up at the navigation at the top and thought, "hey, has it always said "forum" up there?" And here I showed up!

Which is pretty stupid because I think I voted for LVI to get a message board on another site. (Again I refer you to the brightest bulb comment...

)

Anyway, the point being that it's easy to overlook the forum link sometimes. Unless that's a phenomenon exclusive only to me.

So, there's my 2 cents, for whatever they're worth. With inflation, who knows?

Back from my out-of-town experience.

I agree this sounds like a good idea, but it would put some people off. I voted that "it makes no difference to me" because I come here anyway so it won't effect me. But now that I think about it, as a vidder it certainly does make a difference because as it has been mentioned already, it would prompt more people to register with the message board and post their responses to the videos.

So on the one hand, it may annoy some people. But on the other hand, it would be an awesome way for the vidders here who work so hard to get more (much deserved) feedback.

So basically? I say go for it.

They'll get over it.

Just as a note that may affect a lot of these votes: you don't need to register to view the posts (thus download the video), so it wouldn't force anyone to register, which is a good thing. It affected MY vote at least

I think it's a great idea. Many more people may join the forum as a result and that way more people can get feedback for their videos.

I think it's a great idea. It would bring more people to the forum so... plus I don't think of it as an extra step so why not?
