I heard about this from a couple of different places over the past month and I'm REALLY surprised there hasn't been anything said about it here. But HBO is considering resurrecting Carnivale for a Movie/Mini-Series and then as a series again in 2008.

This was reported at some other sites as well but those were the only two links I could find right now. I think the biggest thing is the quote from Knauf saying it isn't over. Woo hoo! (But sad about the "on hold" part of it.)

Well what I think it was saying was that they would do the movie/mini-series first and then pick back up with the series in 2008. But yeah, still a pretty long wait.

Oh right. That's better then. I hope this gets the go ahead. A movie would be awesome. If all the ends are tied up how can they resurrect the series though?

oh MAN!! I would be so happy if there was some sort of official announcement about it. I kind of hate news of show/movies that are 'in talks to make' and stuff like that. Its so premature we really shouldn't expecting anything to come of it.

"seriously considering developing a movie or miniseries" just tells us that HBO hasn't forgotten Carnivale and want to bring it back(although they have no idea how) . But you know HBO probably wants to do a lot of other things, most of which will never be done.

But I guess the fact that they have not forgotten about it completly makes me happy.

I don't know if there is an e-petition. Wherever the Carnivale fandom lurks, it lurks deep. I haven't found a real "active" message board for the fanbase. I got this news from an LJ community.
