prolly cause you put the effect for the entire track. just drag the effect onto the clip you want, make sure you dont put the effects on the whole video track. Hope you understand what Im sayin, cause I suck at tutoring.

You can do that?

Yep, that was perfect I don't know what I did wrong before, but now it seems to be working! Thank you!!!
I have another question concerning audio settings (sorry about those stupid questions but Vegas is completely new to me).
I want to use music as well as as voiceover in my vid. How can I use the original audio track from some clips, while the other clips are on mute. Hope you know what I mean cause I suck at describing the probs I have with Vegas

well you can actually use the trimmer for that, you go to trimmer, select the clips you want, right click and select "Select Audio only" now you have the audio to go! Vice versa for video, You dont have to put both video and audio on the editing track. So now you can actually overlap two audio clips. Ok that sounds confusing, but I hope it helps.

Hold down Ctrl and enlarge a clip to slow it down or shorten it to make it faster.

Hey I've got a question concerning the effects...how to make two different scenes to be in one?
For example i want to have one the left side Jake and on the right Kate which are two completely different scenes.
Can you help me?

*grabs pen and paper, ready to take notes* I still don't get the cookie cutter thing. I can't figure out how to cut around things like people, not just pre-cut shapes...

Or maybe you don't use the cookie cutter for that? For example, how do you cut out an irregular shape (like the ones in your "King of Wishful Thinking" Skate vid, Nate? Like how did you leave somebody's fingers still holding the picture we were seeing the video through, if that makes sense? )

You can't possibly make enough tutorials to suit me, Nate!

And grrr, tranparency is one thing I've never been able to get Paintshop to do! I can keep areas of transparency while in PSP but not in any format that WMM or Vegas can import.

Would it work if I set everything I want to be transparent as a solid color that's not in the rest of the pic (like a putrid pink or something? ) then can I make it transparent in some way by using the chroma key thingie? I haven't taken a whack at that yet either so forgive me if that was a really stupid question!

Thanks for answering about how you did that effect, though! I've been looking at Vegas's controls and not being able to figure out HOW you'd done it!
