Sara:
Go to "render as" and then you cna choose what format to render it as. th regular "render as" function is the same as WMM's "Save as movie file" function.

Okay, I'm a dumb#ss(one of my many nicknames). Polarbear, I hope you can help me, you seem very knowledgable about Vegas. Here goes:

First off, I have Vegas 6. When I click on an ep on my hard drive for the trimmer, it says 'building peaks'. Then it goes on forever, and I get up and walk around for about an hour twiddling my thumbs and checking back with it. Is it supposed to take that long? The files are mpeg4, is that the problem? I know you said earlier that yours takes a while too, but mine just sits there building peaks. Is there anyway to get around this? Or am I doomed?

Thanks sweetie

I'd cancel it Steph, the audio itself will still work if it was going to, you just won't be able to "see" it.

But I can still trim it and use the clips?

No problem and just remember if the audio doesn't work after that it's not because you cancelled the peaks, it's because the audio just isn't going to work At least... I think it is. eeep.

Let me know how it goes!

Quick question for you Vegas pros:

How do you freeze-frame a clip (and then unfreeze from it)?

I'd say cut the clip then either really, really slow it down, or take a screencap and use that, then use a series of clips from the same scene, increasing speed a bit in each one. Though I would really like to know a more practical and smoother way of doing this too

Hey Paul or Hobbes or anyone else using Vegas,
I've just started using Vegas (version 6.0) and I have a little problem at the moment:
I've changed the brightness / contrast of the very first clip I've added. Then I wanted to add the next clip, but somehow Vegas automatically used exactly the same effect and the same "degree of brightness / contrast" on that second clip. What do I have to do to make such changes clip by clip?

Do you mean the effect you added had the same degree of contrast/brightness, or that the clip, plain, without ANY effects, had that brightness?
If the former, then you may have pulled the "preset" effect. Next time instead of takign one of those little eye pic deelees () drag the actual text name of the effect (in the left column) and it should give you a fresh one. not that that whole "same as the last" thinkg is a problem, since you hcan just make a new preset by typing a name in the top of it... but I won't confuse you with that lol.
If the latter however: I'm stumped! No idea, but it sounds bad.

prolly cause you put the effect for the entire track. just drag the effect onto the clip you want, make sure you dont put the effects on the whole video track. Hope you understand what Im sayin, cause I suck at tutoring.
