Ohhh, right! Okay, I'll do that later. I still have some other programmes I might need to try out and see if they'll work with DVD. If they do, I'll be sure to tell you but I doubt they will

Just out of interest, what clips did you manage to rip?! I was able to get quite a few Charlie/Claire scenes from early season two that I had been dying for! It was totally awesome because unlike with some clips these were from DVD, so were completely unpixelated and "clean" if you get what I mean which kinda improves the quality of vids; always a good thing. So yeah, thanks for the programme cause I got quite a few clips, I just wish it was still working These things always happen, don't they.

Kat, I think the keygen (whatever) may have been a virus. My computer found it to be a threat and "healed" it. Just thought you should know and would perhaps want to run your anti-virus software just to make sure.

yeah, it was a virus messed up my computer pretty bad today but i didnt lose anything and now my virus software is up to date so phew. I have found, tho, if your desperate for clips that once ur five uses are up for magic; delete it completely from your computer and download it again. if only we could find a version of Magic that lasts; its so easy to use!

Wow, I'm so glad AVG found it before it wrecked my computer because mine's alright..I think.

Oh ok, I'll download it again. It's a pain though but at least it doesn't take forever to download like most things.

I've got two questions.

1. When I rip the episodes, it comes out in two .VOB files. Is there anyway that it can be only one file?

2. This question is a bit hard to explain, so I'll do my best. You know when you open an episode with Vegas, there are two timelines (one for the video and one for the audio). What I want to do is to have three timelines (one for the video and two for the audio - by having two audio timelines, it should separate the "voices" from the "music" in an episode). Does anybody know how to do this?

I don't know about the second one, but for the first one you just rename file and replace .VOB with .mpeg I haven't had DVD shrink for a while though so my memory could be failing me. I'm sure that's right though. And if it doesn't let you rename it you have to go to your settings and change something, that's what I've forgotten though Hope I helped anyway!

yeah also, the files you rip from your dvd can also be changed in vegas, i find that they work in vegas so i just keep them as it is

To add another audio track go Insert > Audio Track and there you have it

Thank you to you both, but neither of you answered my questions lol It's totally my fault, I should have explained myself better.

1. After ripping the episodes, each one comes out in two files e.g. VTS_01_1 and VTS_01_2. What I want is for the entire episode to be in one single file e.g. only in VTS_01_1

2. What I meant was to separate the voices (the characters talking) from the background music.

I hope it's clearer now

Thanks again Jemmz and Charmed_Charlie for trying to understand my gibberish

Oh, sorry! I didn't realise, lol. Well, I think you just ignore them. I'm having a hard time remembering but if I remember correctly you only change the .VOB file and ignore the other ones. Does that help you or am I totally wrong? I stopped using DVD shrink, I found the clips I ripped didn't import properly and I had some trouble with it Hope you have better luck with it.

I just used the DVD shrink I've managed to get it to rip the stuff i wanted because i already have dvd rips of the episodes then kept it as the VOB files and import then in vegas and use them from there

Snoobie: there is no definate way of doing it (from what i know) the only thing i can recommend is on the audio you got to the top of the audio bar and you should have a hand and an arrow pointing up and down then bring it down and just mess around with it until the background music is lower.

Hi, this post was really helpful to me and i was able to use dvd shrink to make lots of clips but recently when I go to rename the clip and put the .mpg at the end it still remains a vob file and I dont get a warning that changing the name of the file could make it unstable. Basically , instead of the name of the clip only, say , 'Jack' coming up I get 'Jack.mpg 'but when I move my mouse over that clip it comes up as jack.mpg vob file or something like that and I think its causing my clips to play up.
Any idea what I could be doing wrong.Sorry I didn't read all the pages so I don't know if this has already been discussed. Thanks again for this post though. Its been really helpful.

Hey there, Donna! When you're in your file folder for your clip, go up to Tools - Folder Options - View, then scroll down to Hide extensions for known file types and remove the check from it. Then click okay. You should now see that all of your files will have their extensions after them. Now when you rename your VOB file with .mpg at the end, you'll probably get that warning about making the file unusable. Go ahead and tell it yes. That should do the trick!

Whenever I do something like this, I make sure to go back and recheck the Hide extensions box when I'm done because otherwise that will affect all of the files on your computer and you'll have to remember to add the extension to EVERYTHING you save or it could end up making an unusable file. (I had that happen to me with a Word document; I forgot to add the .doc at the end and then Word wouldn't open it the next time. So I try to remember to only take that check off when I need to, then leave it on the rest of the time! )

Sure, no problem! And that's the only way any of us ever learn is to ask about these things! So anything you need help with, don't hesitate to ask!
