this could be a few things....

you may not have the right codec (decoder) uploaded to your computer....this was my problem.

try this site:
http://www.vidlizard.com/mpeg2-decoder.html

make sure to run and install it when you're done downloading it, this is what worked for me, I'm not sure if it's what you need

after you've run the program it should just be on your computer and let you play and import the clips into Windows Media Player/movie maker. If that one didn't work, then you need to search the internet and just keep downloading different codecs until it will let you do it I think.

a codec is a decoder. there are different one's out there to download.

this is the one that worked for me, but I don't know if it will work for everyone's problems:

http://www.vidlizard.com/mpeg2-decoder.html

if it doesn't work then just keep googling different codec's to download and try to find the right one. there are even some programs you can download that will tell you which codec you need for what problem I think...

go to where it was saved on your computer, double click and it'll prompt you to run it. run the program which installs the codec on your computer. this should make the mpg files able to run in windows movie maker and windows media player

if that doesn't work, it means that that wasn't the codec your computer needed to decode those files so you'll have to search for a different one until you find the right one PHEW! didja get all that?? :p

Okay, i'm totally biffing this up... I saved the file on my desktop, and where there's supposed to be the VOB...there isn't! There's just VIDEO_TS.BUP and VTS_01.BUP....

This is really frustrating for an idot like me!!!!

Once again thanks for this.

I did the entire feature of Serenity and it didn't take very long at all. (Not as long as I thought it might anyway). It broke the file up into 5 (4?) parts, but here's the thing. On all of the parts it has the regular audio track, except the 2nd part. On that part it has Joss's commentary. I found that to be a little strange and random.

yeah, the audio is weird on mine too, when I save it it's all clicky and stuff, I don't care cuz I delete the audio anyways, but it's still like-hm!!
