September 2015
Contest: Opening Credits
Deadline: October 4th - extended!
Now we are getting into the autumn season, what could be more fun than a credits contest to celebrate the return of some of our favourite shows? This month we would like to see you try your hand at making opening credits for any TV show you like. Think the Sense8 credits could do with a bit of a revamp? Go for it! Or maybe the show has no opening credits at all. Have a go at creating them from scratch!
No copying the style of existing credits this time wed like to see your individual take on it. Is your show scary? Comedic? Romantic? Reflect that in your titles, colouring, clip choices, etc. We cant wait to see your creative choices with this one.
Good luck and have fun! Do not hesitate to ask questions if youre stuck.
The Rules
Specific Contest Rules
Make your own original opening credits for one show.
 No multi-fandom.
Canon only. No AUs or OCs.
Running time should be under three minutes. We suggest 30 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds.
The more creative, the better. Don't be afraid to take risks.
When entering your video on the Submit page, you MUST enter "September 2015 contest submission" exactly in your vid's description.
General Contest Rules:
Contest submissions should be entered through the Submit page.
 All regular submissions Rules apply.
 Only one entry per vidder.
Videos already submitted and RELEVANT can be submitted again, but we would rather see something fresh. (Please contact a CM if you wish to enter a previously-submitted video)
Please do not use Rapidshare, Yousendit, Mediafire, or Sendspace as your only hosting place as the links tend to expire quickly.
If you're using Youtube as your primary link, please also provide us with an alternative link. Far too often, YT is either disabled or muted by the time the contest is ready to be judged. Mediafire and zshare are just a couple of the sites out there that can be used as reliable backup links. We do realise that there have been a lot of issues with file-sharing websites recently but if you can find anywhere that you're comfortable uploading to and that is easily accessible, that would be great!
Keep in mind that however you choose to host your video, it must be available to be watched at least until after the deadline has passed. If we can not access your video at the time of judgment it will not be considered.
 Have fun! |

This sounds fun. I'm hoping to be able to enter.
A couple quick questions: Can we include any cast members we want in our credits even if their characters are no longer on the show? Or should be just include current cast members? My idea will work either way, just trying to determine which cast members to include or exclude.
Also can we include a "written by" or "created by" credit if it feels applicable to our credits?

Hi Macaila! It's up to you on both questions it doesn't have to be an updated cast, it could be credits for an older season if you really wanted
I hope you can enter! |

Okay, great. I was thinking of including some first season and present season cast members in my vid. I'll precede with that plan.
As soon as I finish my August vid, I'm hoping to get to work on this one.

I had a quick question. Can we take a comedy and make it a drama as long as we are doing our own original take on it?
I wanted to see if that was okay?
Thanks in advance for the help..

Hi Nikki! Sorry for taking so long to reply!
We are looking for your original take on credits, as long it reflects the show in a canon way, not AU. If you can make your video in the style you mentioned and remain canon, go for it. _________________ Heather |

Hi there, I submitted my video for this contest 3 days ago, usually it doesn't take that much time, so I was wondering, is there something wrong with my submission? _________________

Hey Nina, sorry this hasn't been resolved sooner!! I've been away and have only just seen the problem - the vid didn't seem to have been submitted with a link! But I have fixed it and the vid has been put through |

Gosh, I feel like a broken record, but can I have an extension?
I am trying to use both of my versions of Sony Vegas (one had the text I want, the other has the visual effects) the newer one with the visual effects glitched out on me and deleted part of my vid from the timeline before I could finish editing it. For some reason it only saved the timeline stuff from when I saved it the first time. All future saves while I was working apparently didn't take. (It's always been a pain.) I won't have time until this weekend to redo the portion of the vid that got deleted and put it into my other Vegas with the text effects.

No worries, Macaila! The deadline is now October 4th.
I've done that before, worked on the same vid with 2 programs, and it's a pain! Good luck with it! _________________ Heather |

ha, thank you for the extension, it'll let me do some tweaking after finally deciding on concept. Finished the concept last night after going in circles all month. |

Thank you for the extension, Heather.
It is a pain using the 2 versions. The newer one has always had issues. I tried to do the effect in my other Vegas, but it looked weird so I'm hoping the two will mesh together well and appear seamless. (fingers crossed)
