I've been quietly working on a video this week and I'm getting near to the end now and I'm slowly realizing that it's gonna be too big, though not by a whole lot.
I am using Ulead's Video Studio and when I click on share and save as wmv file, I don't see anything about how to modify the way it is saved. Quality/Size-wise. Does anyone know how to do this?
It's probably right under my nose! I'm a dork. Why didn't I just go to the help files and look it up? This is my stream of consciousness, people. I'll be back when I've done the sensible thing if I can't find the answer my bloody self.
Once again, I am a dork. True story. |

I wouldn't know the answer to that, but I recommend you save the file as the full file size, then run it through DR. DIVX : http://www.divx.com/divx/drdivx/download/
free, and wil reduce the size of your video to whatever you want it to be, and still keep as much quality as remotely possible. Try to save it under 10 mb please though. or better yet, 9... |

This was a good post SuperKC even though you thought it was dorky or whatever.
I just finished rendering my Vid Challenge entry and it turned out to be 38MB with 3 clips missing so I would be interested in seeing the comparison of qualities from my editor (which asks for percentage quality and not end total MB filesize) and Dr. Divx.
I thank you for the original post, Hobbes for the info repost and Enchirito (indirectly). _________________

Wow, E started the chain of good deeds.
He (she?) should be sainted.
I downloaded that version of DivX. I had something else, not that. But because I've been working I haven't finished my video so I haven't tried it out. But I'm sure that it will be the answer to my prayers.
Yes, each night I pray to the video Gods. It's a sickness, really. I'll be better when this is done. |

Okay so, how do I put this nicely?
...Ew!
I did what you said, I selected 10MB and saved it, thinking if it looked alright I'd try to go down to 9MB.
Wow! That so did not work out!
But, if I was trying to make their heads look like discombobulated alien distortions instead of actual people it would be perfect!
(Is she smiling? Or eating his face?)
I think I'll offer to host it myself when I submit. Wowza! |

LOL
well you can KINDA make it better if you do that run-through with a resizing program... but yeah, it's always gonna reduce quality, no matter what you do to resize it >.< |

It is 13.1 MB and so I didn't think it was distort it that badly. I thought the quality would be off, I didn't expect distortions. We're talking flying particles all over the place, people.
Scary. |
