Tacking up the lyrics, since they're the reason I went for the song/bothered making it. With lyrics like these, well...
Any Road
by George Harrison (RIP)
I've been traveling on a boat and a plane
In a car, on a bike, with a bus, and a train
Traveling there and traveling here
Everywhere in every gear
But, oh Lord, we pay the price
With the spin of the wheel
With the roll of the dice
Ah yeah, you pay your fare
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
And I've been traveling through the dirt and the grime
From the past to the future, through the space and the time
Traveling deep beneath the waves
In watery grottoes and mountainous caves
But, oh Lord, we've got to fight
With the thoughts in the head
With the dark and the light
No use to stop and stare
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
You may not know where you came from
You may not know who you are
You may not have even wondered
How you got this far
I've been traveling on a wing and a prayer
By the skin of my teeth, by the breadth of a hair
Traveling where the four winds blow
With the sun on my face, in the ice and the snow
But, ooh, it's a game
Sometimes you're cool; sometimes you're lame
Ah yeah, it's somewhere
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
But, oh Lord, we pay the price
With the spin of the wheel
With the roll of the dice
Ah yeah, you pay your fare
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
I keep traveling around the bend
There was no beginning, there is no end
It wasn't born; it never dies
There are no edges; there is no size
Oh yeah, you just don't win
It's so far out, the way out is in
Bow to God and call him "sir"
But if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

Now that I can actually log in to thank you, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and got a grin out of it. The lyrics were so obviously fitting, I had to unearth WMM and make a video again. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

Kate?!! Welcome back! Yay to see you vidding here again!
This was really wonderful! I love George Harrison! The song choice was extremely perfect for a Lost ensemble video, I loved it! Your clip choices and lyric interpretation were excellent! I especially loved "bow to God" with Sayid bowing and I really liked the scenes of Charlie playing guitar to the guitar in the song Very, very nice ensemble video, I enjoyed it very much! _________________ Jin is lost in Sunlation forever..

Hi, Kate ^ 2! Thanks for the welcome back, and for the kind comments!
The 'bow to God' bit was one that stuck out at me for an incredibly obvious clip choice, anyway--hard to go wrong there with making that fit, haha. The Charlie guitar stuff was recycled clips from one of my other videos, but hey, if it worked, I won't argue at all.
Glad you enjoyed it. I want to do a video to 'Brainwashed,' the title track of the same CD 'Any Road' is on, but what do you think (link to lyrics)? I can think of a lot of fitting lines, anyway. My problems with potentially vidding that are a) the section of Hindi chanting--'Namah Parvati Pataye Hare Hare Mahadev' and beyond, since the song really slows down there and has congo drums and the like, and it would be a jarring tempo switch, and b) the length (I know I like longer songs, but this one is going on 6 minutes and would take a lot of clipping.) ETA: I could have sworn I put the lyrics link in there already. Up now, though. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

I thought this was a very interesting video. I liked the editing to the lyrics. I know it wasn't a 'happy' video, but something about the song and the video gave me a comfortable feeling. I really enjoyed it. |

Thanks, Mystic and Nikki! It is a comfortable-sounding song--it's from the last album Harrison released before he died, so I think he was at peace with the world (as if he wasn't before!). Good to know the video seemed in the same vibe. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

No problem, Kate!
I think that's a very cool song choice! I think it could for anything, ensemble or just a single character, (Locke especially) The lyrics are really twisted and interesting, I like them! I understand what you mean about that instrumental part, but on the other hand that part is really good for just placing clips in to fill and a chance to let creativity just unfold. It can be taken a lot of different ways with it's foreign like attitude! I say go for it, what have you got to lose? I'd be excited to see what you come up with. _________________ Jin is lost in Sunlation forever..

Hm. Well, if I figure out what to do with it, I will! How's that for conviction?
I agree that it would work well for Locke, with all the 'voice crying in the wilderness' stuff, and I've yet to do anything with him prominently featured per se (minus the horror of 'Lost and Confused,' and that wasn't at all serious.) Maybe! I've got a bunch of ideas I want to do, now that I'm doing this again. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

It's been a long time since I've commented, but I saw this vid and I had to!!! George is my FAV Beatle and he was such an amazing person!!! I LOVE this song and I really like how you mixed it with my FAV show!!! Great job matching the scenes too!!! I still miss George and we have some GREAT music to remember him by with The Beatles and his solo songs, but I'm really liking his son Dhani's band Thenewno2!!! They are really great and Dhani is a great songwriter/singer too. |

Hey there, buffyfan! This is also the song that made me come back and vid, because damned if it isn't the most accurate thing ever! I also like George (and John) and agree with a lot of George's philosophy on things, so it's all good with me.
If you're of a similar mindset to me, you might also like 'Everything Decays' and 'Gentle Arms of Eden,' both of which have a lot of Buddhist philosophy running through them. Glad you enjoyed this one, too!
I saw Dhani on the 'Concert for George' performance a long time ago (and I know he played on a lot of the songs on 'Brainwashed'), but I have not actually looked into his music. I know Warren Zevon's kid Jordan is doing some good stuff; I'm not surprised that George's kid is too. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.
