I have no problem with this since I have my friend's server that I upload my videos on, but I imagine its going to be quite hard for the August contest. A video thats 10 minutes long (like I'm guessing most of the entries will be) is not going to squeeze into 10MB and still be...well...watchable. I'm guessing a lot of people will use YouSendIt...

Do I have a point? No, not really

oh no they can't possibly use that for a contest video! It would expire LONG before judging time. Anyone who needs hosting for the contest, use picafile. Thank you.
(if not that, then PM me for permission for Rapidshare. )

Hello there. I had many problems with the sites you recommend at the rules. When I started uploading the video to Zshare or Putfile, my browser always got stuck and the upload never finished.

Finally somehow i managed to complete the upload at putfile, but the video didn't play. I tried in 3 computers with installed WMP plugins, Adobe and Macromedia flash but didn't play either.

So i couldn't submit the video by giving a link that actually didn't know if it works or not.

I gave a filefactory basic link that has fast download and no limits. It has a 7 days expiration but i can download the video every time before it expires and keep it alive.

The putfile link is this:
http://media.putfile.com/Lost-Prophecy
As i told you I don't know if it works or not.

If it does, are you able to change the submission form or not? If not, do i have to Pm every Council Member and tell about the problem?

It's a video for June's contest and i don't want something to go wrong.

Regards

Hey there, lan-di! I'm sorry to hear you've been having trouble with the sites. I know how frustrating that it!

I checked your Putfile link and it seems to be working for me. I see you also have a YouTube link already for your vid and that it's still working. Mainly so long as you have a working YouTube link, that's good enough for contest purposes, then you're free to use whichever secondary place works best for you to make it available for download, if you'd like it to be (it's not required). imeem is another good streaming video hosting place if you'd rather not use YouTube, though at this time LVI is not able to embed an imeem vid on the main site like we can YouTube.

Anyway, we're mainly just concerned with vids having only one link to a hosting place that expires very quickly. As long as you have several and especially if one of them is a more long-term link like YouTube or imeem or an equivalent place, then you're fine.

Off-topic, I see in your sig that you're a Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles fan. Very cool, so am I!

I don't know if Hurley's curse is chasing me, but even in Youtube i had problems in the past with illegal violence or copyrighted material.
Last month they deleted 2 Prison Break famdom links from my account.

Anyway... for now we're OK.

Fan??? Not exactly! I'm actually a maniac. This year i was making Sarah Connor subtitles for the biggest Greek subtitle site. Not translation but by hearing. I was waking up every Tuesday at 6:00 and by 14:00 i had them finished.

Ugh, that just sucks! Hopefully Hurley's curse will leave you alone now!

There are programs like Cryptload who manage to reconnect the router or the modem automatically, change ip automatically, enter the codes automatically.

You can find it here: http://cryptload.info/download/

Give it a try. The only "difficult" thing at settings, is to make your router work. If you find it on the list, you're OK. If not, you have to go at "Router Recorder" and add it. The only things you must know, is your routers ip, and the router username and password (if you have enabled them). Of course the programs works only with dynamics ip, not with statics.

If you have modem, you must check the field "Start file" and load a file that will do the reconnect. To create a start file you must know programming... so if anyone has modem, just ask me to create it for you. It's not a standard file. It depends on everybody's connection.
