Lost Video Island

This is just an idea. Maybe mid-way through this summer, when all lost videos of season 1 have been created and posted on lostvideo.net, you could sell a DVD of all of the music videos. It probably wouldnt be that hard, you would just have to have everyone submit a higher quality video, then with some computer skills, a DVD burner, and maybe some DVD labels, sell them over the internet. You could probably even make a profit and help to boost the site for next year. Tell me what you guys think of this idea.

Probably, but that would be breaking that little rule everyone puts at the end of their music video "for entertainment purposes only. No profit to be made" etc

Even if we charged only the amount to pay for the DVD disk it might not be okay with the lost guys either. Unless they want to co-franchize or something

Hmmm.... didn't think of that, it would still be good to look into the legality and if there would be a lawful way of doing that.

Yeah, that would be making a profit off Lost footage and songs used without permission. Not a good idea. We're already pushing it as it is...

That would have been a cool idea though... stupid intellectual property laws.

The Lost music videos idea is cool, but presents FAR to many problems. The most important being the forementioned legal issues. I think the ONLY way we could MAYBE do it is if we gave them away. And it's just not in anyone's (not mine anyway) to put forth that kind of effort and time to do that for free. The other problem is getting all the higher resolution videos together. Sound easy, but not that easy. They'd probably have to be sent snail-mail to whoever was making the discs.

That said, I would still like to have one. It's a great idea. We could arrange the DVD in a much similiar fashion that the site is set up with menus for characters and/or categories, and also menus for particular vidders. It would really be awesome I think. But a lot of work and too many legal problems.

While this would be a fun idea, that would definately be in violation of copyright laws. That would be like selling fan fiction. Can't do it!

But if the DVDs were made just for "fun" not profit it would be a different story.

So let me get this straight. If the FBI comes to my door after I send one of the DVD's out I just tell them in as goofy a voice as I can "It's a frisbee! See?" (tosses disc through window)

Could that count as for Entertainment purposes only? Okay I'll be quiet.
